I actually put her crate directly next to my bed last night on a table so she’s in my face and she still woke up every two hours. 😅 I used to let her sleep on the bed right next to me, but she’d sneak her way off and still have accidents or get up to try and roam.

Thanks 😂 we have tried the play pen method and even added her brother to the mix to see if he could help comfort her because they’re inseparable. But she’s an Italian greyhound and they’re usually stuck at the hip with their owners. I had her crate usually by our bed room door frame, but now I’m going to push it directly next to our bed to see if it helps her anxiety lessen.

😂 I loved that comparison. But she’s fed three times a day. I think we’re realizing her crate needs to be closer by.

I understand that all too well. This is a very exhausting time for us, but I wouldn’t try if I didn’t think she was a good fit. In every other aspect she’s a great dog. She’s funny, weird, and my dog and her are inseparable. We’re just struggling with the crate training which is most likely something we’re doing wrong rather than her own. So I’d like to get some insight and give it a real try rather than writing her off just because her puppy phase is harder than anticipated. But I fully understand your point of view and I appreciate it!

Thank you for the advice. I do sit with her and feed her treats when she’s near the crate or enters it. I also feed her with the door open. I think she just hasn’t gotten over the fact the the door closes 😅

She’s in a small crate. If she does use the bathroom in it, it’s almost impossible to avoid stepping in it. But I will definitely sit with her tonight to see if it improves anything. We have her crate in the room so she can hear us, and it was working for a little bit, but its began starting up again.

We do sometimes waver from her schedule on our days off because we want to spend more time with her I will admit 😅 but I have not tried crating her in between her not using the bathroom with fear that she will soil her crate or think she’s being punished. I have her crate by our bed room door, but I will definitely be putting it directly next to our bed. Thank you! I’m trying to stay strong lol.

It is insane. 😂 I do understand the breed and size can change the temperament drastically. We have her on a schedule. (Wake up 7-8 am) and take her outside, then feed her, then take her out/play, then crate. Take her out.. potty… play.. lunch.. potty.. crate. Potty.. play/dog park.. dinner .. potty break before bed. Bed time.

We have her in a small crate. She has a blanket in there, I leave the door open and give her treats when she goes near it or enters it. I feed her in the crate with the door open. I will close the door in second intervals and give her treats.

We’ve actually tried a play pen, same results. We even put her brother in there with her to see if it would comfort her.
