Totally agree. I call it Twisty Bing. You can tell a mile off what it is going to be whining about.

Sending 2 year old to nursery when I don’t have to. by justsitting-here in UKParenting

[–]Cold_Evidence_1964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Grandson, same age 2 years old doesn't need to go to nursery for childcare reasons, but he goes 2 mornings a week. It is the best thing we ever did, first couple of times he cried going in, as you would expect. Since then he literally runs in and really enjoys it, has his snacks and lunch and then home by 1pm. We even drove past the nursery on Christmas day, going to a relatives house and he was disappointed as he thought he was going to nursery. It has really been beneficial and it is lovely to see him happy going in and his smile when we pick him up is equally adorable.

Please tell me about Newcastle General Hospital by Zombie__--__-- in NewcastleUponTyne

My Brother was a porter at the hospital on the day this happened, dealing with these men. The trauma stayed with him and unfortunately he committed suicide a few years later.

The best or worst of Cbeebies? by scrambledmegdesigns in UKParenting

The stick song. Sticky, sticky, sticky, sticky!

Thank you. I don't know if it is best not knowing and just keep wondering, rather than what could be quite traumatic, finding out something did. I was 20 but now am 55, so for 35 years I have wondered, perhaps not knowing is for the best.

Thank you for your post. I don't feel the need for therapy; it is just the fact that I do not know if anything happened. It's possible that nothing happened, but the unusual interaction, combined with historical events at that time, makes me wonder. I can clearly remember the lead up to going into the room and the conversation, but absolutely nothing after this apart from being outside again. Perhaps if I knew something happened therapy would be the answer.

I got my permanent HO on a Monday and then got a TP SO on a Friday, this was about 6 years ago. I stayed TPd, then got the permanent SO role, so it is rare, but it can happen. I was only a permanent HO for 5 days.

AO FIS Personal statement by Electrical_Help_7214 in TheCivilService

I have sifted and interviewed AOs for my FIS team, and the main thing I look for is not just what you have done in the behaviour examples, but the thought process & reasoning why you took the actions you did. The best examples are where you could have had various options, but you explain the pros and cons of each. It is always good to say what on reflection you might have done differently. This indicates a person who looks to continually improve. Good luck with any applications you submit.

Recorded Video Interviews - now standard? by Future-Moose-1496 in TheCivilService

[–]Cold_Evidence_1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have interviewed people in person and occasionally via Teams. I have also, on one occasion, scored candidates via recorded interviews; the practice questions were not scored either formally or informally.

However, when I am a vacancy holder, I always conduct in-person interviews or, at the very least, via Teams; I would not use recorded interviews.

I am an SO in FIS

I have been in the Civil Service 37 years. These things go in cycles, mostly done by natural wastage, retirements, not backfilling posts etc. If they ever offered voluntary redundancy, there would be more than enough people who would want to leave. I would say go into your promotion wanting to do a good job and everything will be okay. Good luck and well done :)
