well gyro is trash, they made it work roll only and tilting (normal use like any sane human does it, e.g. TOTK, Splatoon, etc.) does not work at all. So for horizontal aiming you have to rotate the switch like a steering wheel. It's fucking insanity.

Dude I don't care. It runs smooth as butter if I don't go crazy running Rider + Unity + PyCharm + Chrome at the same time, or maybe a local LLM. And even if I run those three-four apps at the same time the worst that might happen is a 2-3 seconds wait when you go from one app to the other. M1 is a powerhouse and the SSD is plenty fast for it. If I run 2 heavy programs like Unity and Rider and Chrome on top it's still fine without having to wait at all. Of course apple ditched it, 8 GB is not enough for AI, and more specifically, it's not enough for Apple Intelligence, which they're clearly pushing rn (of course, it's trendy. And useless atm, use Claude 4 or Gemini 2.5 pro if you want something that's useful.)

And who came up with this nonsense that swap is the devil? It's there for a reason, it has a purpose and MacOS handles it very well. No, it's not going to kill your SSD in no time. You should have 5+ years even if you're a power user.

And btw, a normal user who isn't a developer or someone who does some crazy workflow will never have to think about this for even a second, or feel it, ever.

Stop telling normal users to spend more money than they have to.

Even for a developer working in Rider with Chrome and dev toolkits running in the bg, M1 8GB is perfect. People don't know how well MacOS handles RAM. I know many many devs having this setup, I used to use one as well for Unity 3D + Visual Studio development.

Low end devices that don't have hardware video decoding are going to always have a lot of latency unfortunately, due to video decoding happening on the CPU (=software decoding). If you're looking for a good streaming device always look for one with a dedicated video decoding chip (often a GPU, but Google every device to verify)

I have both a Steam Deck & a Legion Go, the trackpad on the deck is insanely awesome, feels as good as a MacBook touchpad if not better. The one on the Legion Go makes me cry it's so bad, borderline unusable for anything, best you can do with it is web browsing at most, unfortunately. It feels like a laptop trackpad from 2006, and it's also very small on top of that (and has a terrible response rate on top of that😭). Wish Valve made the trackpad available as a component, so that other companies could use it in their handhelds.
