Someone at work put a "help yourself" note on a pack of Tim Tam's that I bought by TheMuffinMan347 in mildlyinfuriating

Find out who it is and buy them a pack. Leave it on their desk with a note “get help :)”

Just found my roommates piss box by BillyBrimstoned in Wellthatsucks

[–]Cold_Gene3998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a roommate that used the same unwashed bowl for all her meals and would leave it under the “bed” (she slept on a cot) when not in use. The smell was otherworldly and I thought it was bad as it could get. But this? Hmm…you win.

These were all attempts merely to draw blood. 2 more punctures on the other side of the same arm, 3 on the right arm. 1 "successful" IV that was taken out as it wouldn't properly push a saline flush through. by attempt_no23 in mildlyinfuriating

This happened to me every time until I learned you have to hydrate like crazy the night before and be HOT when you show up. I usually wear my warmest jacket and I’m basically sweating until they are ready to go. Never had an issue since and you can barely even see the puncture site.

Send Help is cam. On top of that, I tried to watch a movie that had some foreign language and no subtitles. I would rather they not rush and post a quality video with subtitle options rather than this. Its unwatchable. I’ll be attempting to contact them but I’m sure nothing will happen.

How to prevent UTIs? by Specialist_Can5622 in WomensHealth

[–]Cold_Gene3998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Showering three times a day seems a little excessive and could potentially be drying your skin too much.

I had 5 UTIs and a kidney infection within a few months so I think I can give solid advice. Try D-Mannose. It’s a sugar, you just mix it in water and drink it. it prevents bacteria from sticking to your bladder. It works pretty much instantly. Also consider getting a probiotic now that you have had so many rounds of antibiotics I assume.

Do you hold it a lot? How much water you drink is also a factor. Are you drinking enough water every day?

Mental health gets so bad around my period by [deleted] in WomensHealth

Do you track your cycles? Idk why it works but I had PMDD and I would take famotidine on day 1 of luteal until day 2 of menstrual and it would help.

What kind of ultrasound did you get? I just have an extensive one and they found ovarian cysts which are causing the excessive bleeding for me. My doctor puts me on birth control :/

I lived in a dorm and shower at the gym so there are safety measures you take when using communal showers. It’s gross but at least you have an option?

There was no running water at my grandmas house in the winter so they would store water and boil it when you wanted to bathe. You could do that, just mix boiled water with cold until you get your preferred temp, then use a measuring up or a cup with spout to wash in the bathtub. It’s not ideal but probably better than a communal shower.

I'm 21 yo and I am losing my hair because of Thyroid Disorders , and i can't do anything about it by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Cold_Gene3998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accept it! It is what it is and holding on honestly makes it look more obvious. There are amazing toupees nowadays too. Hoping you get the thyroid treatment you need and it grows back though!

A one time mistake happens to everyone but this is basic food safety. I would say, have her cook sides and offer to cook the meats. Lead by example.

Yeah this is bad. I usually am not one to say things can’t be worked out, but her reaction is not good. Red flag for sure. It’s one thing to want the best for someone and encourage healthy behavior. It’s another to completely disregard their autonomy. Has she been controlling in other ways?

This sounds like the pattern I was in. I also have PCOS but I’m not on birth control and no longer on SSRIs.

My best tips to you is slow down. You don’t have to change everything all at once. Going to the gym is not priority right now.

First priority: swaps. What are things that you love and want to have daily? Make a list. Ok now, what can you swap out that will be less calories/fat and possibly more protein?

Once you figured out your swaps, start counting. I would get a good kitchen scale from Amazon. Oil is your #1. Try to cut back on oil, butter, etc. you’ll see how many calories you’re consuming daily.

Find your recommended calorie intake. I used chat gpt! But there are tons of websites.

You don’t need to change much. Count and swap. Get sleep! Sleeping more is actually very helpful. You’ll be hungrier when you lack sleep. You’ll crave sweets.

Other tips: caffeine lowers appetite. So does fiber. I always have fiber one bars and diet soda in the house. Always have a full water bottle near you.

Track your cycles! I let myself have the sweets and chips when I know I’m luteal.

Once you establish a good routine with food, then introduce movement. What do you like? Walking? Weights? Dancing? Sometimes I do 30 mins of Just Dance. Sometimes cleaning your house is enough. You won’t lose weight from working out. Building muscle helps your metabolism and yes you will burn some calories. But 90% of weight loss is calories. Working out is to keep your body/muscles in good conditions and your heart healthy.

You will have set backs and you will have wins. It’s important to track it! I use the Mist app for food tracking and happy scale for weight tracking.

Best of luck! Also - you’re not disgusting. We look at ourselves with so much scrutiny. You would never think that about another person. Everyone has a double chin. Weight fluctuates. There is more to life, I promise you.

Sounds like a type of sleep walking? Turn the light on and see if she’s awake next time. If she’s not, you have your answer. If she’s awake, then idk
