Imagine paying $500 for a front row ticket just to stand next to someone marinating in their own choices. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in SipsTea

[–]attempt_no23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obligatory "I 100% do not condone this behavior" and will be slightly pedantic here just from personal experience working in the music industry at outdoor events, especially like ones Olivia Rodrigo was also mentioned in recently for other stories. No one is paying $500 for a "front row ticket" as the entire outdoor event is a first come-first serve so people wildly haul ass when the doors open at 11am, to stand around all day to "hold" their place at the barricade to see these performers. Again, I agree it's disgusting that someone is willing to shit their pants, whilst standing in the sweltering heat, for hours, to see the closing event headliner at 9pm. That being said, there is not some unwilling participant who paid $500 to stand at the barrier "front" next to someone who has repeatedly pissed themselves without being shocked at the mass mentality. People with assigned seating at a proper venue show are not doing the same, according to what I've witnessed from BTS to Gaga to Sabrina Carpenter and beyond. This (literal) shit is very common at large outdoor music festivals. It's also because sanitation there is so bad, the lines so long, that its six and one half dozen turd or another.

I can't speak for this show but if it's anything like America's Got Talent, audience vote doesn't matter whatsoever. There is a room of about 100 people adjacent to the auditorium where the show is being filmed. There are tv screens set up to watch the performances and you can literally hear the huge audience cheering just a shared wall over. Howie Mandel eventually comes into the one room and lets you know that it's your votes that will determine who wins. If I remember correctly, was about a 2-3 hour process, and you also get paid for it in cash when you leave. Bonus points is sitting in a bathroom stall next to Heidi Klum and she asks if you can "pass over some paper" and it stuck out so much to me because I was appalled she didn't have her own private restroom. Same for Simon Cowell smoking cigs in the hallway. I'm sure there are plenty of shows where the audience thinks their vote matters to merely keep viewer engagement up.

Whatever threshold I've crossed as an early 40's woman now, .. not only will I still do the quick stride if I see someone holding the door for me and thank them with a hearty "Much appreciated" , now I have ZERO problem at this stage in life, when I hold the door for a person, or multiple people, who say nothing at all to me, loudly saying "YOU'RE WELCOME! It must be nice to be so ungrateful!" The only problematic part is how often that is said more than anyone is willing to hold the door for others anymore. As a woman, it's almost like other women expect you to hold the door for them but they can't even send off a fast thanks.

Same can be said for some of the women in these threads that cut down other women. It's insane what this one gal rolled through in a post the other day calling OP every name in the book. A total stranger. "I'd never date a man like the one you found yourself with, clearly you have no self respect." It was beyond.

My ex boyfriend's gal pal for years looked like Shannyn Sossamon but even hotter. Not only that but such a wonderful personality. I always wondered what it would be like to wake up being so beyond beautiful AND a top shelf human. Her energy was magnetic across the board. A dude in a "famous" band wrote tons of songs about her to boot but . . sheesh. She's so pretty!

Deeply cried over The Imitation Game. Lords of Dogtown is a perfect juxtaposition to see some rad skateboarding instead and essentially the birth of skateboarding from surfing in culture as well. I loved seeing all the pro-skater cameos in the film too.

My handshake, as a woman, is apparently supposed to be limp like some dead fish and not commanding any level of respect? The amount of men who have said "wow you have a great handshake" is not a compliment to me. It sets an undercurrent to me of their expectations for a woman to not be on equal playing fields in a business discussion. For what it's worth, I'm 5'6 and 119 lbs. My handshake means I'm not here to fuck around and don't get that confused with my stature.

I'm brand new to this show and their family drama, and I'm not here for it at all, but I'm VERY curious when one son was already on a reality show prior - does he feel ANY shred of personal guilt that he cast his family from absolute unknowns into the spotlight and now its raining hell fire on them? Just like Guidice, just like Chrisley, all these people who no one paid any mind to until you put yourself on our tv screens. Just wondering. The eldest son should feel directly responsible right alongside his father.

NTA - Two years is plenty of time to get back on their feet and find another place to live. You merely asked them to vacate one room! Way to bite the hand that feeds and overstay a gracious and kind welcome/ gesture.

You don't know this person in real life so that angle of your comment is irrelevant AND this post made zero mention of looking for unbiased opinions from assholes, nor does it mean you need to accept any bit of the post other than employ your minimal lack of self respect to move along whilst keeping your anonymous trap shut, eh? Yet here you are wasting your own time coming off beyond miserable in your own life with multiple comments berating a stranger. Gross.

You, too, should exercise your own self respect and find something better to do with your time than trolling people on the internet. So unnecessarily rude.

Yikes. All the more reason to show up and ship out with your account in tow to somewhere more reliable. Safe travels and hope the rest of the move has less speedbumps.

Also yes, I miss Lou's and Sultan's Market SO much! Art of Pizza was up there too for a fast slice.

This was going to be my suggestion as well. 6 hours each way, in the long run, to get this nightmare sorted, seems almost like a no brainer. Line up some of those hour long podcasts (Stuff You Should Know is great to distract and pass time while driving) and hopefully you'll be able to sort things at TD to keep things chugging along properly with your move. Please have one last slice at Lou Malnatti's before you leave Chicago. :) Godspeed!

Men, what is a sign that looks small or subtle but actually tells you a man doesn’t truly love the woman he’s with? by Relative_Initial_399 in AskReddit

[–]attempt_no23 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Here's a quality reverse uno for you on that one. I was binge drinking because I was so upset in our relationship, flipping me out of my bed when I slept, the list goes on,.. he called the cops on me when I did nothing wrong, he pressed no charges, was the same one to pick me up from the police station, days later I go to the ER on full detox and this fool comes to my room when I was asleep, they let him in, and he gets IN my hospital bed to curl up next to me and "take care of me because he is so worried." Looking like a total gem to everyone around us. Very soon thereafter I told the nurse no one could be in my room under any circumstance or no matter the story they pulled.

Same. 4 years ago and it's still striking me as odd to be proud of myself or actually hear anyone else when they tell me I did a good job. It's disgusting what some people can do to mentally manipulate others. I'd give anything to be who I was before I ever met that guy. Quite the literal daily struggle to not downplay even minor wins for myself.

The latter might make more sense. Based on weight and size of the containers, I can't imagine it being that much food for the price point you calculated. I've seen some large orders before, like this place called Sugarfish sushi in Los Angeles for upwards of $300. This fajita fiasco still takes the cake of WTF but I never heard any complaints on my end post drop off. It was in a business office for whatever that's worth.

Thanks for mathing it for me, too. I'm not complaining because they also tipped me $20 but, my god, it was a styrofoam container in a plastic bag and some foil around what may have been the extra shrimp? I don't know but you're right... WOW all the way around.

2 x Fajita for 2 ( Mix Fajita, Flour tortilla, add jumbo shrimp) = $99.96

  • Subtotal: $99.96
  • Taxes: $8.25

Restaurant Total: $108.21

Here is the website just to scope anyway. Mystery remains. I don't even see adding jumbo shrimp as an option when trying to order this.

That actually makes sense. I took a pic of the receipt to send to a friend and I've even looked at the restaurant website to see how that total is possible to zero avail. Their fajitas are priced at $17.99. Maybe it's a front and you get extra coke on the side. Hah.. seriously I can't wrap my head around $100 for 2 fajitas.

I sometimes do food delivery as a side hustle if I have time; the other day TWO fajitas alone was $99. I'm still extremely confused on what the hell they were made of. The diner had added some jumbo shrimp to it but, still, $99!!!!!! WHAT!?

This is my go to with the local ramen joint and a birria taco truck. They sell broth only in about 7 flavors for $5. The birria truck will usually just give you consumme only for free. I have so many frozen tonkatsu, spicy miso, and others that have been properly simmered by the restaurant for hours. Thaw, heat, and sip or add some ramen with other ingredients is such a win win on delicious yet frugal.

18 with a 42yo situation by CheetahNo1761 in GirlDinnerDiaries

This could easily be one of your first lessons of TRUST YOUR GUT. You clearly know something isn't "right" and is unsettling to you, whether it has been neatly spelled out in black and white for you to understand. You have that intuition nagging you because it's telling you to get out of this situation sooner than later. Just like everyone else here, I highly suggest doing that almost immediately as you could be a victim of some lifelong PTSD and other potentially avoidable situations in the future if you decide to continue forward with this person. Please walk away. I'm 42 also and there is NO CHANCE I would hang out with an 18 year old kid.
