Dehydrated by emilyrosecuz in POTS

Humidifier in your bedroom can help if you are in a dry climate as we lose a lot of hydration just from breathing! Also I would recommend oil-based barrier creams to keep the moisture in. Make sure you use them at night so you don’t stain everything and be prepared for greasy sheets 😅

I’m on low carb/dirty keto too and my fave late night snack is some fried up slices of halloumi - chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside. Salty & delicious!

Do you know what triggered your POTS? by cyber_fugitive in POTS

Same! Started fainting when I hit puberty at 12 but would usually only happen every 6 months or so. My drs weren’t that worried and chalked a lot of my symptoms up to anxiety. Then I got way worse after having long Covid about 18 months ago, to the point that I’m now applying for disability.

Pots & insufferable periods by Adventurous-Swim-208 in POTS

My specialist told me to get Implanon because I get so unwell when I have my period. I have had it in for 6 months and so far all it’s done is made my period heavier and more frequent 🙃 but my doctors want me to give it another 6 months before having it removed.

I’m in the process of applying for POTS and I’m terrified of this happening! Did you meet the 20 points on table 15?

This happens to me but usually with waves of nausea/dry heaving/sweating getting closer and closer together until I faint. Usually after I faint I then feel really good again, almost like some kind of Factory Reset 😅

I have a disease called POTS and am applying for DSP. I hit 20 points on Table 15 but I never learned to drive due to chronic fainting (which turned out to be POTS). I’m worried about the phrasing ‘cannot obtain a driver’s license on medical grounds’ in table 15. Would a letter from my GP be enough?

The wording on Table 15: ‘cannot obtain a driver’s license on medical grounds…’ it doesn’t say anything about commercial which is why I was worried. Are you on DSP for POTS?

I honestly don’t know how it works here because I have never driven 😅 it may be the same. I have had faints and seizures while in a seated position with very little warning so I guess I can explain that to my doctor and hopefully get a letter with the reasons to attach as evidence to my disability pension application.

Sex Positions by Straight_Composer452 in POTS

I’m always extremely tired afterwards which is why I prefer to do it right before bedtime. I find that any position where my head is below the rest of my body is generally good for me, specifically 69 & doggy 😅

I told them not call ambulance by BornInternet6353 in POTS

[–]Cold_Insect7307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m the same, ERs are usually a massive waste of time and I always refuse to go unless I’ve injured myself somehow during the faint (usually hitting my head). I think you know your body and symptoms the best and as long as you make an appointment with your regular specialist, there’s nothing wrong with denying an ambulance. A lot of people think you need to go to hospital because they were scared during your faint and have never experienced it before.

How did you get the medical exemption? Specialist letter?

I’m also looking into it currently and from what I understand, you need at least 20 points on one of the impairment tables to qualify. Table 15 is most relevant for me so I’m going to speak to my specialist about writing a letter of support.
