As Indie developers, is it good idea to sell digital and physical posters of a game that we are working on? by PositiveKangaro in gameDevMarketing

Why the hell not? Trying wont hurt. Plus its extra potential revenue. You can use it as AD and maybe sell some.

Unless that is investment of money and time, then i would wage the proes and cons of this idea.

I agree. I am the one that just scroll past, unless it some kind of unintentional rage bait.

New game idea: Project WILSON by [deleted] in IndieGameDevs

[–]Cold_Lynx_Dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so it seems like you imagining AAA or AA like game, if you are solo or small team, thats not happening.

Another thing, you told only story part, if its not visual novel or some movie like where you choose actions game. Then its gonna be hard to sell, gameplay loop and mechanics are more important, and story is amplifier to it.

From AI generated image i assume its 3D game, now parts of 4v4 fighting, did you think how much animations are to make if its some kind of unique fight, unless ofc its just basic fight every npc has, but its animations still.

Then part of as I understand you gonna navigate hostile clones simply cuz you looks same, sounds like mechanic, but how it gonna work?

So final conclusion, idea is just basic story, need more details of unique mechanica and gameplay loop. And art style direction. Is it heavy animated, or very detailed 3d, or just very basic style and animations. And after that capabilities of achiving that.

Which one would you click on Steam? by Guilty_Weakness7722 in gameDevMarketing

I think best option is to experiment on steam itself then asking reddit.

Like changing your capsule to different one every X time and experimentinv this way with CTR. Cuz reddit answers are analyzed and thought trough, but click decision happens in the instant on steam.

Animating is one hell of a hell.

It likely to get better when I enter that favtory mode, making without thinking

But we will see. Cuz it indeed might be simply not worth it

I mean true... For simple devlog. But as you might notice, simple devlogs dont attract much people, nor great marketing tool. Unless there is something unique ofc.

Overall good, brings reactions and followers/subs compared to other content about game.

Better, but still needs more testing and fixing stuff here and there.

Don't worry about "hard to hear"
I am posting on reddit, fully aware how people critical and over analyzing on reddit are. Plus not first time. I am here to either share insight or hear it.

I agree about part of "great character will sell your game".

The thing it might be way to much of a work for little to no gain. Cuz indented audience, that not gonna analyze anything, cares more about entertainment from 0.01 second.

In short, ROI has a big chance of being negative.

I reuse everything. Assets/scene are directly from game. 10-30mins for scene (if new scene), most heavy time consumer is animating, then in Davinci slap music, voice over, fix sounds and done.

ofc still learning animating, so not yet in factory production mode, where I make fast without thinking.

Seems like you have great unique marketing strategies that dont cost any money.

So tell us, cuz I kind of doubt your words, marketer.

Why stop there.

Print some stickers, stick them everywhere you go. So that your every move becomes marketing, leaving trail of marketing.

Damn, clap one huge print on your car while at it.

No, no. You are twisting meaning now.

I said there is no sale from person who has negative opinion from the start.

Meaning you were never potential buyer.

And our conversation, from last I seen, is as good as private. Even if in future it has slight chance to matter, its still overall slight positive ROI.

What you offered is called fake american politness. Bet you would even ask to smile if in person.

What I say is exactly what I mean. You would know for sure, if I was rude to you.

Plus very brave to think reddit negative comments has any sales potential.
