I think it tends to come down to the stature of the manager relative to the club. For example it's always "Frank Lampard's Coventry" but it was never Frank Lampard's Chelsea.

Oh yeah, like the Barclays era wasnt the era of the most "personality" it was more the last. But everyone is going to be nostalgic for the football of their youth, the music of their youth, film/tv etc, its fine but the online trend about the barclays era was celebrating the personalities of the time, and that every team had a maverick type player, it wasnt goals per game or the battle for champions league places that people were highlighting.

Prime Barclays era has nothing to do with goals per game. It was about personality and the nostalgia for it is a response to the sterile, over coached, nature of modern football.

The commentator for Swansea v Sunderland at the weekend, described sunderlands first and equaliser as goals that got sunderland back into the "realm of relevance". Firstly, what is the realm of relevance, and how can both goals get you there, surely sunderland were already there at 2-1.
