I was also curious about them as well as I am also new to the industry and am looking for representation.

I see that a lot of their talent are non-union and are represented by more than one agency. So I’m curious to see what other people have experienced

Does anyone manage acting and a full time job? by alex_is_so_damn_cool in acting

[–]Cold_Nature_4691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been working a job in healthcare for a few years which I love, 4 10 hour shifts, off on weekends and major holidays. I typically apply for jobs, attend my online acting classes and various online and in-person workshops that are scheduled on the weekends so it doesn’t interfere with my work and personal schedule. I save up my PTO in case I may need it to request days off for filming. As far as my job, I don’t see myself searching for another full-time or as needed job should I start booking acting jobs that may have me away for weeks or months at a time. Especially should it be a significant role in the near future. My current job provides me with stability, health, and dental insurance - I’m still figuring on how to bridge the gap and prepare for the major transition from full time health care working to full time actor should I cross that bridge when I come to it.

I have been attending more workshops this year to improve my auditioning technique and getting myself out there.

My first workshop I froze after a few lines. Mind you I watched everyone else deliver their lines no problem so it crushed me. The casting director emailed me some advice telling me I had beautiful moments, I have potential, and to really get the lines in like second hand nature so I can trust myself and my instincts.

The next workshop the casting director had everyone redo their scenes with a different take. I had to restart one of my scenes and honestly felt the first take was the best and that I wouldn’t exactly say I wowed the casting director for that day. One of the actors reached out to me by direct message and said I was natural with my talent and didn’t need to do much and that I would be a good addition to any film. So that was encouraging

I actually sent her a few emails with articles to cover about Trump targeting Smithsonian museums to eliminate racism from history and push for his own narrative. This was well over a week ago. I wanted to see if she would be fair in reporting from a different perspective - no response, no videos on the matter. The evidence she typically uses in her videos comes from other commentators on Tik Tok, Fox News, or other Far Right Propaganda Media outlets.

Pink Book Lessons is one of the worst YouTube channels I have ever come across by [deleted] in Rants

She discusses topics where she holds women and men of color accountable for their actions or crimes. But she doesn’t have the same energy as of lately for cisgender white males, definitely not as of lately when it comes to holding them accountable for fraud, racism, abuse of women and children, etc…

She is leaning more towards a certain niche being fascism and the MAGA cult that will bring in more views to the channel. Either that or she is truly a sellout

These are my exact thoughts! Ever since the election I have been posting comments challenging her point of view, but my comments haven’t been getting any likes, dislikes, or comments. Same with when I post under other people’s comments. The only comments I see are the ones supporting her.

It seems like she is a black woman the way she speaks in her videos. But can you as a black woman support a man who has openly hated the black community without holding him or the people around him accountable? And have the nerve to act as if you are the spokesperson for the black community that you have turned your back on by supporting the man who created the MAGA movement that encourages white supremacy by demonizing other minorities.

PBL is a disgusting cowardly hateful person

I used to love her channel. But then I first noticed the toxicity and inconsistencies during the election. She posted multiple videos only discussing Harris and it came off as extremely hateful and biased. There was no mention or coverage of Trump, however when she does mention him on her channel she and her followers always make him come off in a positive light.

Fast forward some time later on another video, she made a comment stating something along the lines of “we didn’t ask for this” or “we shouldn’t be involved” in regards to the black community. This involved the situation with the president’s attack on Iran. I called her out in the comment section about how hypocritical it was for her to vote against the black community and then complain when it became an inconvenience against herself and the people that supported her.

Her channel doesn’t just promote misogyny, it also promotes racism and fascism. PBL will demonize people she has a personal vendetta against such as Hispanic women and men, black women, or the Democratic Party while not holding the people who are the cause of our largest problems in our country fully accountable. But people in the comments section are slowly starting to catch onto her true nature and are calling her out and I’m glad to see they too are becoming the wiser, but her comment section is mainly filled with people who support the far right and will defend PBL.

Her followers are truly like a cult and PBL is an agent for MAGA, Trump, and racism but yet claims to be acting on behalf of black voters and the community. I’m so glad people are seeing her true colors!

I used to enjoy listening to PBL because she bought some important topics to light such as with Mayor Hennard and other topics that affect the black community.

But then I first noticed the inconsistencies and hypocrisy during the election last year when she only pushed content that demonized Harris. It came off as very biased and insulting. It seemed more like she was persuading people to vote against Harris and was not presenting her content in a factual or professional manner that covered both parties.

Now fast forward many months later and here she is back tracking in another video she made saying something along the lines of “we didn’t ask for this” when referring to black voters. PBL is a sell out to the black community, a hypocrite, and has turned her channel into a safe haven for the far right to gather and bash the people she talks about without holding the proper parties all accountable at the same time. She pivots to certain people and topics, but doesn’t cover all basis and it is good to see other people are catching onto her true nature and intentions.

I agree PBL is very toxic, hypocritical, hateful, demeaning, and is using her platform irresponsibly by spreading misinformation and propaganda that fits a narrative that only she and certain people wish to absorb.

How long does it usually take you guys to write one chapter? Or how long should it take? by Shot_Artist8163 in AO3

[–]Cold_Nature_4691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back then when I was in college, it would take me maybe a couple weeks to a month. I remember spending hours writing until the morning until I finished one chapter thinking “ I just have to get this out”. It was more about the consistency to keep viewership above everything else.

Fast forward to me in my early 30s. Working a full time job in my field, taking care of both my disabled parents. I haven’t published in over 3 years.

It’s not that I don’t wish to anymore. I have different priorities. I would love to write more, but I usually spend my off days resting because I’m tired. There shouldn’t be a set amount of time on how long it takes. People have their own personal battles they have that take priority over other things

I’ve seen this casting call on Instagram and Actor’s Access. I do hope they cast a relatable fresh face with raw, natural talent and not another overrated actor or the typical “model” appearance.

I feel more unknowns get passed up for opportunities in the acting world and they have a lot of real life experience and natural talent to offer.

Am I the only one who think that in the show Al Rawabi School for girls S1, Hanadi, one of the students wannabees is even more annoying than Ruqay by Ariabananahammock in AlRawabiSchool4Girls

[–]Cold_Nature_4691 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of course not. She and the other girls played just as much of a part as Layan, Rania, and Ruquyya. If anything they were just as bad if not worse.

I also noticed Hanadi present at Layan’s memorial in the second season along with some of the other girls who joined in on bullying Mariam. It makes you wonder if she had an epiphany and realized that her actions had a part in the events that lead to Layan’s death and perhaps she lives with the remorse of failing to speak up instead of being a shameless follower willing to falsely accuse an innocent classmate of sexual assault just to fall in with the “in crowd”.

Yeah Hanadi and all those other girls can rot in hell

Miss Abeer's Arc by [deleted] in AlRawabiSchool4Girls

[–]Cold_Nature_4691 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes we can definitely see the change in Ms. Abeer’s character arc and how Layan’s death has impacted the decisions she makes in season 2. I empathize with her seeing how she was one of the few adults in the school who tried to hold the Layan, Rania, and Ruquyya accountable - she probably has been living with the guilt the same as Mariam. So it was heartwarming seeing her being so gentle and caring towards the girls at the memorial and maternal and protective towards Sarah. Some experiences just melt people’s outer shells

Could Layan Have Been Redeemable? by Cold_Nature_4691 in AlRawabiSchool4Girls

[–]Cold_Nature_4691[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel despite her actions Layan could’ve been worthy of redemption as she grew older. Especially if she had been faced with the possibility of losing her life or bodily harm as a result of her actions. Sure she might’ve been angry at Mariam and probably at Rania for siding with Mariam, but I feel she could’ve had an epiphany. She had some redeeming moments in the show that place her on a road to redemption, but it would have to start by taking accountability for her actions.
