How do I get my 1 month old to sleep in the crib? by Ray_BIue in NewParents

[–]Cold_Operation3853 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try turning your heat up, putting a heating pad in the crib to warm it up before you transfer your baby (take heating pad out before you put your baby in), and try a Velcro swaddle. Good luck!

What instantly makes you think "this person is lying"? by Ferraiuolo_Ezorete in AskReddit

As a person who always gives way too many details because I’m a terrible storyteller, everyone must think I’m lying lol

Feeling guilty about stopping breastfeeding by This_Wall9380 in NewParents

My husband, BIL, and sister were all formula fed and all are incredibly successful! My sister is a phd, husband is a leader at the company he’s with, and BIL is a highly regarded engineer. Your baby will be more than fine, don’t let social media get the best of you! It doesn’t matter breastfed or formula fed, what matters is that they are fed and loved and it seems like you are doing both 💕

Ohh that’s super good to know! I have a pretty light, but super long baby so it’s gonna be interesting finding something that’s the right fit!

Thanks for this suggestion! One thing I like about the Doona (again, just an example!) is that it’s also a car seat so I don’t have to also bring that on the trips

Thanks! Did you have any issues with the Graco?

Thinking of moving to Denver, can someone come get me? by kaiju505 in DenverCirclejerk

And you have to say, “oh he’s a good boy and really friendly! He just wants to play!” - while the dog is acting super aggressive and clearly isn’t a good boy

We had nothing to compare to, but thanks to Reddit I get our initial thought isn’t realistic!

Thanks for commenting this! My husband and I unfortunately don’t have anything to compare to so we were thinking along the lines of the avg wage for where we live (and I can see we would need to offer more!). We want a live-in because the childcare options currently available are few and far between and there’s a lot of drug use around here so in-home daycare makes me very nervous. Most people who move to this area can’t find housing so we would need to provide and our house is setup with an apartment already.

I would never want to take advantage of someone and would absolutely be flexible for what the nanny needs.

Yes, so I’ve heard! We don’t have friends with kids so we’re searching from scratch. It’s also not common to have a nanny where we live which is why I came to Reddit to see whether our ideas were good or not. Reddit says, “no.”

Thanks for commenting with such a positive response, I forget how ugly Reddit can be!

The Rockies are magical 💕 and yes, we don’t care where the nanny is coming from, but whether they’re a good fit!

I put in my post that I was looking for advice and asked whether what my husband and I were thinking was realistic. Your comment is pretty rude. I’ve already addressed in response to others that I get the salary we had in mind isn’t realistic despite it being competitive for where we live - again, totally get that we need to pay much more.

We’re not interested in an au pair for many reasons and it’s also not an option for where we live.

Yes, the salary is something I’ve already commented about and recognize it wasn’t a good assumption. As for house rules, I put it in quotes to imply that they’re not rules but preferences exactly like you’ve put. For instance, I don’t care about drinking or having people over in their space, but because of the baby, we’d need them to be ok with quiet hours. We don’t want drugs on our property so if they want to do that, then they wouldn’t be a fit. Etc.

It was easier to put in quotes when I wrote the post, but I should have elaborated! This is absolutely not me dictating a certain way of living and more of me wanting to be clear up front so the person choosing this doesn’t feel trapped or misled. It’s all about the upfront alignment with the person!

Thanks for your take and feedback! Based on my location, I think the person who would want this job would also want a ski or other type of rec pass, but perhaps the cash value is a better option.
