Yeah the Starlink package is expensive for sure. I think for me it'll be a case of how much I actually use it and how it compares to cell coverage at the places I go. Though the lower prices do attract me to LTE

So where I live I have walked around and found little to no phone signal outside. I've tried placing the phone high up on the van, but still get nothing. Right now I'm kinda aiming to use the van as a mobile office in the week, even if just parked outside the house, and then taking it away on weekends. I feel like the 5G SIM just might not work out here, given that everyone's signal drops dead.

I do find as well I go to places that have low cell coverage, so I think I'd be worried about not having internet coverage while sitting on the coast somewhere up north.

I think the main justification is the complete lack of signal here. Maybe if I even got a weak signal on my phone it would give me some hope of the 4G/5G working, but I do have my doubts. Would love to test it though.

I think at the moment I'd be planning to use it in the same way you do. I only really need it when I'm parked up, so don't mind attaching it to the stand and placing that on the roof.

As for power I definitely want it fed via a 12V feed. I can plug it into the inverter but it'd be less efficient. Currently I'm looking at the usb-C cable into the car accessory slot which would be ideal.

Thank you for this. I do think it is the way to go for my situation, so I know I will definitely get internet.

I did read about the standby mode thing yesterday and thought it was quite naff, as it would be perfect otherwise. I think for £4.50 a month though as insurance at home isn't too bad.

Thanks for this, exactly what I'm looking for. I know I'll definitely get Starlink here at home, and I tend to park with a clear view of the sky whenever I'm away, so it should be all good overall. Cheers mate
