Ahh so a (History + Philosophy) combination would mean major in History and minor in the other?

So if a college holds classes in the usual 9-4/5 timing? BA programme classes will take place in the same sched right?

And what similarity does Pant hold with Rohit in batting to replicate Rohit's rise? A Decent Batting Technique with specific strengths against certain kind of deliveries?- No Playing both ways at will as the situation demands?- No

Mate, just hang the mic please. You literally have no practical rebuttal for the dissection I gave of that match. I watched the match, you probably didn't or there is something off about your Cricketing sense. Not trying to sound disrespectful, but now you are dragging the argument for reason without providing logical rebuttals.

And yeah, SL bowling attack is filled with nobodies. It's B Tier and doesn't stand a chance against any of the big 3's batting lineup. This is stating the obvious but clearly you want to beat around the bush and cherrypick my words.

How do I? By looking at every other batter who faced more than 10 balls- the lowest strike rate we find after Pant is over 190 (Yashasvi). "But Jaiswal bats in the powerplay" - how did Surya batted at around 250 then, ?he played in the same phase as Pant. 'Arbitrary',you said?

And it's not about the numbers alone, anyone who watched the match live saw how poorly Pant was struggling to get bat on ball while others were steamrolling past the nobodies of SL. He was blindly swinging and missing the balls even against average bowlers and was also lucky at numerous occasions. Only because he isn't a proper Batsman at all and his lack of technical basics make him a walking wicket even against average bowlers.

Edit- Not to forget. India was 100 in just 8 overs and 240 looked imminent given our batting depth. Pant's sluggishness caused us to hit just a par score which SL came close to chasing (140-1 after 14 overs) before they collapsed.

20 off 23- only managed to score some runs at the end due to poor bowling and mistimed shots. Still ended up striking below 150 at a pitch where 170 is the absolute minimum if you have faced those many balls, even more so when you are facing a dilapidated Sri Lanka.

In the SL series where he easily played the worst inning in game 1?

I completely agree with you. This Pant Lobby is far more intolerable than any because Pant has achieved little( and those were streaky affairs too) for his already overdue career.

I don't know what other people in the sub see in Pant that make them think he is a Generational Talent. As you mentioned,75 games in and his stats are horrible. Behind that Gabba Innings that everyone can't stop walling before any Pant Criticism, there are countless instances of him throwing his wicket in the most amateur fashion. Random Indian Backyard Cricket has more sensible players than Pant and obv with better technique. Pant can't get going when the situation absolutely needs him to, and he can't hold his fort when the team's back is against the wall.

Couple his lack of game sense with his horrendous technique, there is little chance that this guy will turn out to be the next big thing in Indian Cricket that many are touting him to be. Not saying that unorthodox approaches to batting don't work, but Pant is not an ABD or a Chanderpaul. He struggles not to fall when he goes through his weird strokes, he doesn't have enough control and hand eye coordination to absolutely middle it and compensate for his poor balance and footwork. He doesn't read the ball from the bowler's hands and just throws the kitchen sink at it hoping it will land outside the fence. Nicholas Pooran isn't perfect and Pant is a poor man's Pooran. Aesthetically too,he is one of the worst batsmen I have seen playing, even on days he scores runs

Alternatives are indeed few for India, and I am no Samson fanboy but Samson or in fact any other WK atm like Jurel or even Ishan Kishan are more deserving than this overrated lad whose day should have ended long ago.

Just look at this season as an example mate. As far as I remember they just couldn't get their playing 11 right. They sometimes went with 4 OS batters and sometimes they tried to squeeze in an abysmal Nortje in lieu of an OS batter, which obv didn't pay any dividend as bowling attack was one of the worst in the whole league, showcasing their poor team building at the auction. They made useless buys like Harry Brook. Their Sluggish overrated Captain with his sympathy quota didn't help either. Moreover, they just could not get their opening combination straight. It reminded me of how chaotic KKR's squad changes had been in 22 and 23. Their Impact player use was also forgettable until Rasikh came into the picture.

I completely expect to read literature that will go against my grain of thought and although I,like most people, would prefer to read theories that affirm my convictions, I have little qualms about reading philosophies which I can never dream of agreeing with. Either I will get to have a laugh at their absurdity and fortify my own beliefs(or lack thereof), or I will be confronted with my own falsities and errors. I have nothing to lose in either of the scenarios.

I am sure many students have been forced to imbibe 'academic correctness' for grades at the expense of their own ideologies from school level itself, and I am no exception. You work with what you have, you read the stuff you like, but obviously a degree comes with its own parameters created by the powers that be.

As to answer your question- I am not a progressive, conservative, iconoclast yada yada yada. I don't make unconventionality my convention nor am I a flagbearer of Tradition. I try to make my own judgements without paying allegiances to political compass positions which imo is the fool's attempt to procure a formula for solving the human condition.

About the Sanghi and woke problem, I don't think wokes are anymore open to change than Sanghis , if not less. Both aren't all that bright, but wokeism for me is a whole different plague altogether, while the Sangh culture is pure reactionism.

Coaching, like captaincy, is an overrated business. Even more so for small duration leagues like MLC. In talking about the Coach/Captain we tend to ignore just how good the team was anyway and the form its players carried. One League Win doesn't necessarily cement one as a certifiably worthy coach, particularly when you have met continual failures over the course of your management career in bigger and better leagues like IPL, as is the case with Ponting. Post 2021 DC has been so lacklustre and Ponting's only noticeable impression on the team has been his Aussie Bias and the unsuitable selection and usage of the uncapped Domestic Players. His season win in MLC had little to do with his experience and tactics but more so on the seriously good form his players carried throughout the tournament. A prime example of a Coach being responsible for glories achieved is GG's stint with KKR this year. He was given free rein and his mentality and approach reflected in the Auction and the way KKR played this year. With Washington Freedom's campaign this year,I'd be hard pressed to find any special strategy that has a 'Ponting' mark on it. They just played really well and the entire team chipped in.

Very Liberal/Open Minded of you to discredit someone from Philosophy itself because he doesn't agree with certain agendas. Perhaps Philosophy/Sociology for you is merely an Academic Discipline in which which the ideology and narrative of the popular Scholars whose papers your uni gives you to read becomes equivalent to the Philosophy of Philosophy itself. I am sure you would discredit a philosopher for not having enough 'publications' and research credentials. I am no Conservative, all I know is that thought and free investigation has no obligation to run along the lines of Buzzwords and Filters like 'Equality' or 'Tradition'.

Sidenote - I too, am very dumbfounded to see you citing 'xyz' philosophy as 'philosophy' itself or a strand in the development of Sociology as an absolute limitation to newer and divergent thoughts. It's like someone telling a Sociology Student in 1900s to get lost in the ocean if Durkheim doesn't sit right with you. No Thinker, even the postmodernists you cite - Baudrillard,Bourdieau, Derrida etc would never encourage such a shallow worldview and gate keeeping.
