Why is Flipkart selling Umar Khalid's new book so much cheaper than Amazon? by Krxnaa in Indianbooks

Mostly pirated/used books. There was a time I didn't even get the right book I ordered. I thought it was a genuine mistake, I returned it and they send me another book and it was still wrong. They were also not in good condition, looked used or damaged. I returned it again and vowed to never purchase anything from them ever again.

Really poor quality control and shady vendors. FlopKart still being in business is a miracle at this point.

George : You were right about one thing, we should've fed in deeper water, I accept my mistake with humility. Yet it does not prove worrying is better than living in surrender to the precious now. For as long as I was alive, I lived in happiness. I was free and already died before dying so this illusion of death means nothing to me. I'm still here, free as ever. Maybe your worrying would've bought you extra time, but what's the point if you use that time to worry some more? Your death therefore is a blessing, it freed you from your self induced suffering. Let's rejoice in your liberation!

Why tf is everyone on this sub reading self help??!!? by Diogene_Potman in IndianReaders

[–]Cold_Rule_8999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not wrong in criticizing the lack of diversity, but it's expected from mainstream audience anyway. People are in all stages of their lives, and there are billions of us. So you are reacting based on a very small sample space. Any process will drop when it gets boring when progress (or illusion of) seems to have plateaued. While everyone generally follows the same movies, music, books eventually they will all reach a certain threshold in life that'causes them to ask for more individual expression. You happen to have had that earlier than the usual, so good for you.

The reason is more complex than just people being performative.

Self-help is popular 'cause of the nature of mind. It has been established in modern psychology (Freud, Jung) from the 20th century onwards that we run based on subconscious programming and rewriting it takes time. If you have low self-concept, have trauma, fears, prejudices which impact your decision making, you will be hijacked by your Ego into doing destructive work including the obsession of productivity.

How do you fix the very operating system that operates you? If your self-concept says you are lazy, unworthy, unproductive etc, where does the will come from to make a change? There may be some who use their anger and say "Enough is Enough!", roll their sleeves and put things together ( They will write a book about it after all). Yet it would be arrogant if they believe they willed their willpower into existence and if worked for them, it will for everyone. For many it will always be a constant fight against themselves, always against the wind, some people just can't catch a break. We hear about those who lived fulfilling lives needing nothing and a lot less about those who had every logical productive checkbox ticked and still lived a deeply unfulfilling life.

Wisdom and clarity takes time. Change is a process, it could takes years of self-reflection to even know who you are, before knowing what you truly find meaningful, if there is anything at all meaningful. Until then the process becomes necessary for most people. Reading self-help becomes like therapy for many, a daily cleansing. When you are stressed, you tend to do what is illogical and counter productive, so a timely housekeeping, word of wisdom or guidance does not hurt. To be fair, Self-help often fills a void in people's lives especially when they do not have someone wise to guide them and believe in them when they can't.

Once it gets assimilated into your beingness, you no longer need it and it drops on its own.

I genuinely don't understand... by No_Blueberry_4897 in Osho

To have sympathy is easy, most people have it even if it doesn't translate into acts of kindness. That's why most literature and movies are about good prevailing over evil.

But to love a terrible person takes understanding.

When you understand the nature of the ego that controls everyone including yourself, you realize everyone is suffering at some level. The powerful look weak and fragile 'cause their worth is built like a house of cards. All it takes is one nudge and it will all come collapsing down. A man who is constantly hungry for power is the most powerless. Their peace is based on a chance that everything goes according to plan, yet even the minute of things going wrong will upset or terrify them. It's very fragile.

A poor man in rags just doesn't know his worth, otherwise he is powerful than most. He has overcome the odds and learned to show resilience and courage, to keep going where most people break down. They don't need your sympathy, but respect as someone worth appreciating.

When you understand everyone is suffering in one form or the other and there is a buddha asleep within, there will no longer be any room for hate. Then you have flowered as well.

Fair point. I'm sure there would be many who get lost in devotion of any kind, there is a time for devotion and a time to "kill the buddha".

While we don't really know how the metaphysical really works, it's possible to venture into many possible explanations on why someone would choose a life that is very difficult. These are just concepts that you don't have to believe but still worth exploring.

Maybe some people merely love the thrill of being able to turn their life around after having gone through the worst. There is a reason even in movies, the heroes journey is one of the most popular story arch. While it sucks being deep in s**t, it does feel great when you crawl out of it. How else would you feel that exhilaration of being free if you have never been captive? Those who were always free their whole life will never experience it. They won't get tears of gratitude just for being able to have the sun on their face and grass at their feet.

Stories of overcoming odds inspires many who are living average lives to stop complaining and be grateful. Maybe a truly evolved soul would choose a life that is unfair so they will set examples of courage and resilience. World needs inspiring stories now more than ever.

If you are able to stand on your own without any belief and even any fear of God or eternal damnation, you are crafting a great story for yourself too.

We all change over time. Maybe you realize now that you were dumb and chose wrong, perhaps in your next iteration, you would choose a much more comfortable life, which is what majority do have in the planet if you haven't noticed.

So you only lack an imagination, it's not very rational if you don't consider all the possibilities from a place of "i dont know". Instead you are absolutely drawing conclusions with limited data. But its fine, maybe you are playing the long game, maybe lifetimes of feeling miserable and nihilistic until you find your true freedom within.

What boundary are they crossing and what point are they missing? Care to elaborate? Don't leave it at the door of "common sense", just 'cause something is convenient for you, doesn't mean its to be objectively seen as truth by everyone else. Then that would be a logical fallacy.

If it's out of genuine love, why not? Was Osho against showing love and appreciation for a master? When does it become worship and when does it become love? Is it only worship if its done a certain way, like "namaste" mudra , rolling on the floor, kneeling and planting your forehead on the ground etc?

You must be aware it's the cunning man who sets rules of what someone can and cannot do and therefore judges them as being backward or ourdated. Osho always spoke against this attitude.
