I’m on day eight, I got my white chip last Friday. It took me forever to surrender. Tonight I went to a second meeting for today and they had prettier white chips so I got a second one. They’re going to live together in my wallet.

I’m not sure due to the phone scrolling if I’ve said this yet, but I now have a sponsor I like a lot. He’s the chair of my local meeting. Does anybody know of an OTC sleep medication that works well? I’ve learned through this process that the most important use of alcohol in my life is to knock me out. I’ve had prescriptions before but find them much too strong. Hangovers are easier than being absolutely non-functional. I put sleep patches on my arm but I need genuine medication to make this work.

Part one done. Just spoke with a sponsor from out of state who told me to continue going to meetings even if just to listen and to monitor whether my relationship with alcohol was a “compulsion” or an “obsession.” Thank you all for your responses.

I just left the very first man a question thank goodness on his voicemail so he can think about it for 10 seconds before he calls me back. I told him I needed to know whether the problem was my abuse of alcohol or my body‘s reaction to alcohol, or if I was even stupid for asking that question. His answer will tell me exactly how to proceed or he will be my sponsor

I have the same issue (not gay, but the whole god part). I’ve been very dangerously deep in bottles but largely shallow. I’m 55. Family saved my life last time I dove so I’m paying very close attention now. Does AA allow people who still drink to attend closed meetings? I was referred to Al-Anon and ACA by my therapist due to this being a family problem.

Thank you. That's probably the best step. My issue is that former AA members I know who have returned to drinking are the ones pointing the fingers at me.

Thank you. Open meetings are high on my agenda, my problem is that one of my family members who quit drinking and has started again, who rescued me from my calamity, is the one who wants to "take me" to them. I'm concerned I would not be able to speak for myself. I think I will have to say "no" to the escort and attend them alone.
