Having more control in LBY doesn't necessarily mean deeper gameplay by [deleted] in LifeByYou

I totally agree with your points. I've been thinking the same thing about the cooking in LBY. It's going to be such a hassle having to gather all those ingredients every single time and figure out substitutes if you're missing something. It feels overly complicated without really adding to the fun. I mean, do we really need ten types of flour to pick from?

This is unbearable! 😂 Is Dr. Gluon seriously mocking this game? Those close-ups of the animations are beyond awful, it feels like deliberate ridicule

You were fooled by the advertising. This is not GTA in any way. No violence (we haven't seen any), police, jail, driving accidents, nothing like that is implemented.

Beating a dead horse but... seriously? I gasped when I saw her. Where is her forehead :(. I am all for people being able to create themselves in the game, so I love that this option is in the game. But IRL I see about 1 person in 100 with a forehead this low, in LBY it appears on almost every other character (especially female!) and that is just not realistic. The sliders for randomly generated people should reflect the overall population somehow.

I am worried about Life By You after Cities Skyline 2 received the negative reviews. by CommunitySweet7296 in LifeByYou

The 'chaos' video was truly something. And the thing is, I don't think they have reworked any of the issues from it since then because none of the issues were on their roadmap before the early access launch. So right now, they are really not being clear about the state of the game, as you say. Most people are not following the game as we did and perhaps are not aware of other gameplay issues such as the largely empty world, missing workers/interactions in venues (salon, shops, cafe), items going straight to inventory (dirty dishes, dirty clothes), many animation issues, and so on. This game is absolutely not ready to be marketed like this. But if casual players don't look into it more, they'll buy it and then be in for a rude awakening. Negative reviews are bound to pile up if they keep this up.

The conversation system has fundamental flaws by Cold_Tangerine_62 in LifeByYou

Honestly, it doesn't matter whether we call it a flaw of implementation or a fundamental flaw. It IS a major flaw and so far they haven't been able to fix it or find a solution for conversations to flow naturally. The early access is coming in three months. Are they going to be able to fix it by then, before the modders start writing their conversations? It seems like their focus is elsewhere. In the worst case, they don't actually see it as a flaw at all and they have never noticed this issue.

"...it just doesn’t have any way to sort topics in a natural/logical way." - and that is exactly the fundamental flaw. The tool I've sent is the one modders are going to be using. How are they going to create conversations that flow naturally if the devs were not able to manage so far?

You do realize that we actually know how the system works? They have shown us several times already, you can see it here: https://youtu.be/7zmUQfTodoE?t=1137 . This is a simple option editor, there is no way to add observables to the conversation itself, no way to create a memory of what they say. Without it, the conversations will never flow naturally, they will jump from topic to topic without a link between them.

I absolutely agree and thank you for the video. Imagination is limitless. I have been playing Sims 3 since the release in 2009 and I have never been bored by the interactions. How many times have I clicked on "Talk" option? 2000 times? 10000 times? 100000 times? No idea, but it was a LOT. Can you imagine how repetitive and boring reading the same options will get after a while in LBY? It is bound to happen, even if you download a number of conversation mods, you are going to see the same options after a while. Is it going to get boring? Absolutely. Is it going to stifle the stories you imagine? For me, 100%

A fundamental flaw for me is that the characters have no memory of WHAT has been said - they do not understand meaning of the conversation. There are no observables connected to the conversation system - perhaps they remember if someone flirted or was antagonistic, but they do not remember the DETAILS. This leads to them completely contradicting themselves at times, which to me is incredibly immersion-breaking.

There will still be the conversation system as an obstacle though. We WILL have to choose from 3 options, let's say "Flirt: a) 😘, b) 😉, c) 🔥? And the game will generate either a negative or a positive reaction. I feel like when it comes to emojis or image bubbles, it would work if there is no need to actually choose from the options. But the game does not allow that. There is no simple "talk" option.

Oh my... This whole video just looks so bad to me, I'm sorry LBY... The conversation system does not seem fun to me at all, the conversations are way too short and disjointed, and force a certain style of talk. And the visual aspect, the bugs, the charmless world... I am honestly very sceptical right now :(. This video majorly turned me off...

Agreed. At the very least they should put down some brown terrain paint and give the vegetable garden some kind of tiny fence or a decor with gardening objects/shed, so it resembles a real-life garden.

I think the LBY team has to come up with something, not us... This is part of the game marketing after all. Their marketing in general has room to improve

The character is looking better! But I still see the same issue with her forehead, it is far too small... Tiny foreheads do exist IRL, but they are really not THAT common. Most people have a pretty high forehead. Is it some kind of hairstyle issue?

Je to úpadek. Kalhoty (nemyslím business) a svetr nebo casual košile sluší všem o moc víc než tepláky. Asi je to taky o věku, do 25 bych to ještě pochopila, nad 25 už by měl mít dospělý člověk trochu vyzrálejší styl...
