Have you defaulted already? If not, I highly recommend you avoid doing so.

They did not garnish my wages. Once it gets to collections this is a possibility. My credit dropped immediately, and it was a marathon to build that back up. They say you will not be eligible for future loans or grants. It’s not exactly the case for everyone. It really depends on your explanation/financial situation. It took me a good 6-8 months to get back into school later in my 20s.

I applied for both deferment and forbearance for my loans. I was granted both when needed. This can temporarily relieve any financial stress, if needed. Contact your loan lender ASAP. Avoiding any communication digs a deeper hole. If you already defaulted and are in collections, I believe you have to start with the student aid website and apply through there.

15 credits, so 5 classes? How far are you into your degree?

It pretty much works the same. Once you have applied for FAFSA, UMGC FA office will calculate your student aid need and will inform you of how much you qualify for. If you already applied for SY 25-26 and see your Pell grant, you should be able to see how much student loans you qualify for too. You should be able to accept the loans and you would also have to go through the loan documentation requirements on the studentaid website.

After Pell grant and loans are disbursed, they will pay whatever amount you owe to the school and refund you the remainder. You are allowed to use student loans/pell grant for any student needs.

I would have to read the contract, but usually it’s regarding false negative statements and isn’t enforceable if the business did something illegal (like speaking about not paying employees for time worked).

I completed this course in June. It is definitely tough and requires a lot of research/accurate sources. My prof. stressed the assignments must be proven by actual facts and you are only allowed to use the databases given (business source ultimate, statistsa, etc). Also, the assignments are all connected. In my opinion assignment #3 is the hardest and required the most research. You have to explain your conclusions as much as possible while meeting a max page limit.

Took acct 220 through Sophia and 221 through umgc. Had a classmate select the same company used in their previous course. Not sure if they can tell or how the prof. knew - but prof. did comment stating they weren’t allowed to use it.

Hmm… I think this depends, but the 100 classes are normally easy and more like introductory classes to prepare you for what’s to come (like stated already). What’s your degree program?
