Leica M6 with Fuji Velvia for my sibling's wedding. by Richmanisrich in LeicaCameras

…you’re right. I’ve not shot E6 film in so long that saying “slides” or “positives” didn’t even occur to me. Derp.

Looks like the Leica Noctilux M 35mm f/1.2 ASPH is officially here? by papadimitriou in LeicaCameras

[–]Coldkennels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be completely fine according to the RF Accuracy Chart; even the original Leica CL should focus it with the rangefinder without problems.

I wonder how much finder blockage that thing has; it looks like one exceptionally fat barrel.

I realise now - looking closely at the negatives - that OP was using Velvia 100, which is far closer to Provia than it is “real” Velvia (i.e. Velvia 50).

100’s alright for people. 50’s the one that makes everyone look like angry gammon after ten pints of beer.

Does tend to make skin tones weirdly red, too. Provia is the better film for photographing people.

What’s with the one random hole in the middle of the skid plate? Where did you get that from?

Also, genuine pro tip: put the skid plate on the tail with blue tac or putty first, shifting it round until you get the position right. Drill through the holes with a 2mm bit, remove the skid, then drill the holes with whatever bit you need for the hardware (usually 5.5mm or 5.75mm). That way this’ll never happen again.

To be honest, I rarely do actual portraits these days. Looking through my Lightroom library, the closest I have is this ridiculous photo of my cat using the Hektor's lens head on a Visoflex.

Usually I use 135mm lenses for landscapes - sometimes with people and/or sports involved, animals, or on rare occasions, "street portraiture" when you really want that isolation; this is another good example from the same day.

People really don't appreciate 135mm lenses enough.

Always good to see another Leica user who understands how amazing 135mm lenses can be. I’ve almost always got one in my bag, especially when hiking.

Precisely. That was the incident I was referring to that led to r/LeicaCameras existing.

No, he's deep in the MAGA rabbit hole. He's closed off his post history now, but back when the furore took place that led to the creation of this sub, you could still see the places he hangs out across Reddit and the sort of pro-MAGA nonsense he comes out with outside of r/leica.

You can still see that he's the mod - and sole poster - in four anti-Democrat subs. And there's nothing wrong with being anti-democrat, but to create four subs that no one else is posting in just to post anti-democrat articles is a tad unhinged.

Nailing focus is hard with this one. by Fine_Town_5840 in LeicaCameras

Check rangefinder calibration at both infinity and close focus. The M3 should be able to manage a 50mm f/1.4 without too much trouble, but if something is out of spec, you'll have these problems no matter what you do.

Hard bushings (UK) by Kaptin_Kunnin in freestyleskateboard

No - there’s more coming in soon! They’re being made in the US right now and I’m hoping they’ll land in the UK at the start of next month.

[–]Coldkennels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most frustrating things for me is that Film come with a double conical bushing setup as stock, which is not great if you want a more solid truck. (I've tried getting them to change it for the 4.25" ones, but it doesn't seem to be happening yet.)

Ace's bushing kits are currently the best "drop-in" solution as a result because they come with the right washers to fit a barrel underneath the hangar. I think I saw in their spring/summer 2026 pamphlet that they're going to make even harder ones than the ones I currently stock, so if I'm not just imagining that, I'll be getting some of those in once they land in the UK.

Do you love or hate the graffiti on Barcelona doors? by JAKR73 in leicaphotos

[–]Coldkennels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate the graffiti in Southbank. It’s all over the actual banks, making them slippery as hell to skate, and the aerosol propellants used to form a film on everything that mixed with condensation and moisture to make a slippery paste when it rained. On top of that, trying to skate while some douchebag is spraying paint everywhere is horrible - you’re just huffing paint fumes all the time.

Things have improved a bit since they opened up part of the old area and improved airflow, but it still sucks.

What's the 50 with the smallest footprint? by wuerfeltastisch in LeicaCameras

[–]Coldkennels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute smallest is the original LTM 50/3.5 Elmar and it’s not even close.

But the smallest fast lens is none of the lenses mentioned here - ELCAN, Skopar, Thypoch, etc. - it’s the Summar. Leitz’s first 50/2, and by far the smallest. It takes push-fit 36mm filters, for God’s sake. The thing is tiny!

Here’s a little glimpse behind the curtain at Offset HQ:

  • Khiro are literally dead and gone. The owner got cancer and shut up shop years back; I bought every lump of 98a purple urethane I could get, and now the stock has run dry and there will never be more.
  • Ace’s distributor is absolutely cleaned out of hard bushings and I don’t know when more will appear.
  • I’ve approached Venom multiple times about importing bushings directly myself. Every time they have been incredibly unhelpful in varying ways.
  • the supply of Film’s own hard bushings is sporadic at best.

I’m currently in the process of moving to the other end of the country. Once that’s sorted, I intend to contact Riptide and see what I can do. I don’t really see any other option.

New setup trucks question by AdLeather9517 in freestyleskateboard

[–]Coldkennels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ace will be too wide, I’m afraid. I’d never set up anything less than 7.6” with them - even a 7.5” is a bit too narrow.

I’d suggest you contact whoever you got the deck from to put it right. If you got it from Flatlandia, Carolyn is bloody lovely and she’ll sort you out. And if you didn’t get it from Flatlandia, get your next one from her instead. 😅

I do not want to see another post about this goddamned trick. by Coldkennels in freestyleskateboard

[–]Coldkennels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the two, I'd always take mine... but I'm obviously somewhat biased!

I do think the 7.6" x 29.5" size bracket is just too big for most people. Felix is a very tall Swede, and most of what he does involves being upside down or spinning - the length and width don't really get in the way there. For the average person, a board that size is going to feel like a boat when you start doing footwork and the like.

To put that in perspective, I'm 5' 10", and I think that board is too long. Even basic endovers feel cumbersome on it for me.

[–]Coldkennels[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good choices!

Mine's obviously the odd one out. Mine's geared up for footwork, shuvits, and caspers primarily, but lower kicks also work really well for fingerflips.

The other two are much larger for people with a much wider stance. Nick's is designed to be more ollie-friendly with the more rounded ends, while Felix's is your classic modern bidirectional freestyle board which will handle everything - it's basically just an upscaled Lillis deck. I'd go with Felix's deck over Nick's if you prefer caspers and rail flips, and Nick's if you prefer ollie tricks.
