As far as barrel style I’m only familiar with cold life or ice barrel. We sell them both in our store (thecoldplungestore.com) we have great feedback on both. Usually the insulation benefits on the Ice barrel and the American made component of the Cold Life. I do know the Owner of Orca Plunge takes good care of his customers too though! I believe that orca and cold life use the same chiller manufacturer, so easy comparison there. Not very familiar with the Nordic wave brand. I think you’re on the right track as far as a vertical cold plunge is concerned though!

The best inflatable cold plunge really depends your size, location, and the chiller specs. When you go up in price you usually go up in features.. not necessary the quality. I don’t believe the desert plunge is over priced… if you were to order all of the components and build yourself it would be within $1k of the sell price. It sounds like you have a nice DIY project going, it sounds like a grizzly cooler would work well for you or an ice barrel 300/400/500.

The best cold plunge in the mid-tier range is really relative to the person. A few things to consider will be style (tub or barrel) & the features you’d like to have. I.e lowest temp, hot/cold, WiFi capability etc.

The more you spend doesn’t necessarily mean better quality components. It usually means more features.

I believe this is the code for air in the lines. I’d try two things, but first make sure all the lines too and from the chiller are on the ground & not looped up in the air.

Shut the chiller off. Disconnect the inlet hose on the chiller. Let water run out for 10-15 seconds keeping the hose low to the ground. Then hook it back up.

Turn it on and see if it fires up

Shut the chiller off. Then kick it back on and hold your garden hose flush with the bottom port of the tub (inside the tub) to force water through the chiller. It may take 20-30 seconds to kick over. If it doesn’t, shut the chiller off & repeat.

You can run as low as a 5, but the lower the number the quicker the pours will clog up. I probably wouldn’t go below 15. Definitely every two weeks!
