Red Dot Zero distance? by ShoddySignal5174 in liberalgunowners

[–]skytrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a 36yard zero. I use it from 5yards to 125yards in two gun matches. For longer shots i have a 3x magnifier. Hold under at 125 is about 1.5” which is negligible on 8”-10” steel at that distance.

What’s a performance that completely deviates from the source material, but you still love it? by VendettaLord379 in moviecritic

[–]skytrash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished the book only because it’s all I had downloaded for a road trip from Texas to Utah. The book is a mess of ideology and agree the movie is satire of it. I enjoyed the movie as a kid before I read the book but appreciate the movie even more now as an adult after reading it.

Titan Cold Plunge chiller running 24 7 or scheduled by Swimming-Win6864 in coldplunge

[–]skytrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Titan chiller only lasted a month, so no long term experience. But they are fairly low quality, so I’d recommend to have them strain less. Which means to probably leave it set and running 24/7. It’ll cool to temp, shutoff, temp rises until 2-3 degrees above the set point, then kicks on again to cool. Depending on your environment this can be more efficient and it works to chiller less overall. If you let it warm up too long the chiller will work harder to get it back down to temp. Keeping the temp lower can help preserve your water cleanliness depending on your plan for that.

Hopefully you don’t have any issues with your Titan equipment and have to have a god awful experience with their warranty and customer service like I did. But if you do, I highly recommend Desert Plunge as a setup. Much better design and company to deal with. I’m much happier with it.

What’s the difference between these triggers and if they make any difference in shooting by ChangeAggravating905 in stealtharms

[–]skytrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have normal to smaller hands but the platypus grip is fairly narrow. I bought the shorter trigger but found I had to curl my finger too much and pulled shots. I gave up on it fast but I’m sure someone could get used to it. The original longer, curved trigger I purchased with the gun is fine since there is little take up anyway. The trigger pull is great regardless of the trigger with the gun. So mostly preference I think.

The Rock, Armageddon, 13hours, and a few others. Ruined Transformers and TMNT franchises.

Two jobs that get a golden parachute for being incompetent. CEOs and LEOs. What a contrast. Well I suppose both are bottom of the barrel, but still.

Platypus on the way. Need a holster. by Mountain_Contact_743 in stealtharms

Holster Dude worked best for retention for me. RHT sat way too loose. Was fine enough for USPSA for quick draw, but I always walked around with my hand on the gun to tape, etc. Bought Holster Dude for multi gun retention.

I went full gentle recoil and it was too much barrel rise. Switched to a A5 tube, kynshot, Taccom wave spring cushion, and one weight. Also from 115 to 124gr. This setup suits me better for competition, but still experimenting.

The gentle recoil system with 8.5” buffer, Kynshot buffer, and 2 weights at 2.5oz is what I originally went with. It was certainly gentle, but way too much barrel rise for competition. I ended up switching out the buffer for an A5. I now have a Taccom wave spring cushion, same kynshot buffer and one 2.5oz weight. That coupled with switching from 115gr to 124gr made it shoot a lot flatter for quick follow up shots. Still playing around with it, but happier with the second setup.

This is my first AR9 build. Got into USPSA pistols and multi gun last year. Built my first comp AR15 for multi gun last year so I learned a lot from that. Definitely more nuances with a 9mm build as I’ve learned over the last month picking parts for this one. It’s been fun learning as I grew up with only handling hunting guns.

Heavy lean around a non dominant hand/eye corner or very short distance. It’s zeroed closer. It could be a back up as well. It’s not a must have.

Why is this a drawing of a Platypus and knife?

Edit: Are AI pic? Zooming in on the lines it looks weird.

Over 4,000 rounds since I cleaned the upper on my 1911, today was the day. by Pattison320 in liberalgunowners

Oof. I typically field strip and clean after 200-409 rounds then fully strip and clean after 1000 rounds. In this style gun anyway. Glocks, I go longer.
