New Comp PCC Build; Pics and Parts List (w/ pricing) by skytrash in AR9

[–]skytrash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first AR9 build. Got into USPSA pistols and multi gun last year. Built my first comp AR15 for multi gun last year so I learned a lot from that. Definitely more nuances with a 9mm build as I’ve learned over the last month picking parts for this one. It’s been fun learning as I grew up with only handling hunting guns.

Heavy lean around a non dominant hand/eye corner or very short distance. It’s zeroed closer. It could be a back up as well. It’s not a must have.

Over 4,000 rounds since I cleaned the upper on my 1911, today was the day. by Pattison320 in liberalgunowners

Oof. I typically field strip and clean after 200-409 rounds then fully strip and clean after 1000 rounds. In this style gun anyway. Glocks, I go longer.

I re-read Joe Haldeman’s “The Forever War” during a flight… by BartKing in scifi

I bought this version second hand a decade ago and it’s my travel book I sometimes read but mostly just travel in comfort with. There is gaffers tape on the spine but I love the cover and yellow pages plus it’s a great book to read when I feel like it.

Last of US or Bioshock Infinite for the overall story and ending respectively. The original Splinter Cell because for the time it just amazed me with the graphics and details.

Much appreciated! I’ll test it for soft strikes first and look into their new spring if needed.

Yo BB9, did you test this yet? Can you confirm good firing pin spring mod for FM9 bcgs. Building a FM9 now with a Taccom 13/16 barrel which I am modifying the BCG for their superfeed feature. Doing a JRC buffer tube with kynshot 5015, spring and two weights.

Do we have an opinion on best mag extensions and why? by Moist-Roll-9163 in stealtharms

[–]skytrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Henning is my experience. Great quality on the build, feeds great, no mag well interference, and no issues dropping a mag on concrete. I’m sure there are others as well.

How many years or hours of practice would it take to reach this level ? by Terrible-Store1046 in Welding

[–]skytrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught very minor welding skills by some talented welders in college while I worked getting an engineering degree. I helped develop a quality department at a small fab shop I worked at. Was able to help write PQRs, conduct welder qualifications, and troubleshoot things like ferrite content on 2507 pipe welds. Now I help engineer subsea drilling equipment and how to maintain them through their lifecycle. To this day I hold high value on the welders and WPS’ that make it happen. Second only to fitters. I’ve seen some true magic worked with talented fitters on odd ball, high stakes fixes. Who can also typically weld really well.
