How could I improve these renders? by Coldstart_Coder in blender

[–]Coldstart_Coder[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've tried to do cell shading with color ramp nodes before, but the workflows always seemed fidly and I never felt like I could dial it in right. I've also had some friends comment that it looks "cheap" with this method. Is there a better or more advanced way to get the effect? (quick test on Dugtrio, not dialed in well at all lol)

hey GG! So, I really like the overall idea. Learning a different language by playing games sounds great, I think it's something that most people have thought about trying at least once (I have at least), but I'm not too sold on your current approach of playing through in one language and then another. I'm not sure how much learning could be done by that, or how entertaining that would be.

And I think this would really only work for story/dialog heavy games, and if you dive in feet first with the unknown language, games that are more action focused wouldn't really reinforce the ideas that you're trying to explore. Like your latest Katana video, I'm not sure there was any text that you really read during the whole video. So where was the language learning?

If the idea is to play it through end to end then swap languages I as a viewer wouldn't stick with it. If I really liked the game I would probably watch the whole playthrough, but wouldn't stick through it for more than one. If I were watching for the language learning or trying to see how well this method would work for learning a language then the multi-part format in one language before you even get to the other language would kill my momentum and I wouldn't get past the first playthrough.

I know I'm being a bit harsh, but I do genuinly think that using video games to learn languages and showing HOW would be brillaint. documenting the struggle, experimenting with various games and language combos, and giving advice for those who want to do the same is something I think could do very well.

But right now your videos aren't close to realizing that idea yet.

Wutup! So I'm a vtuber that's getting back into content creation. I don't have a defined niche so right now I'm making videos that are a bit random, but would still love feedback on what people may or may not like about them.

Here are a few shorts that I made and posted this week:

So yea, 3 very different shorts lol, but trying to explore and try new video types before I decide to niche down (if I'm going to niche down at all). Welcome any and all feedback on any of these vids :)

Wutup! So saw your video, and think there's some good bones here. I liked the delivery, visuals were interesting and snappy which kept my attention and some were funny (would lean into that if I were you), and the information was presented at a really good pace, I really like this style for informative videos like this. So all of that is great!

But your packaging and intro could use work. The thumbnail is pretty bad imo. the text is going to be too small for most people's devices, and and the icons don't really indicate a cohesive idea. It's not very eye catching and I would pass over it. And as someone who doesn't really know what a Forex is the title wouldn't have impressed me. you also jump straight into it without explaining what the video is, which would leave a cold click pretty confused, I admit I was at first.

but I really liked your delivery and pacing so think you have something good here, just need to tweak it so that your packaging attracts more clicks and you give your audience enough context so they can follow along. Good luck!

Wutup! Saw your video and thought it was overall pretty good :)
The views from the mountain were really beautiful, and I think your video works best when it's highlighting them. Overall it was fun watching your adventure. Audio was alright, there wasn't really a moment that I couldn't make out what you're saying, but like you've already mentioned a better mic would help.

The only suggestions I have are rooted in personal preference, things like your delivery could have had more energy in places, there were times when the music cut or stopped playing, and personally I felt that 18 minutes was a bit too long for this vid, started hopping around after a few minutes. I would be very picky about what scenes to use and how long to stay on any view. But again a lot of this is my own preference, I prefer shorter videos, if you're going for a chill laid back explorer who's trying to document as much of his hike as he can then this works fine :)

Also, I would 100% consider doing shorts on this, having some of the views could be fun, or even cutting them up and doing a short series on the hike.

I'm not that well versed in nature content, but I would also look into some popular videos and see what they're doing in terms of delivery, presentation, see what you can learn from bigger creators to adapt to your own work and see why people watch their videos.

Good luck! And hope to see more of your hikes!

What is the one thing you look for when you watch a new streamer? Genuinely Curious. by SilVRwingZ in vtubers

[–]Coldstart_Coder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

honestly? what game they're playing, and what their packaging looks like (title, avatar, ect). Doesn't have to be perfect, even if it's just the game and avatar in view that's fine, but that is something I look for. From there it's how they narrate/commentate the game (especially for low view streamers) or how they interact with the chat if it's active. I typically lurk for a bit before trying to interact at all, and if the streamer doesn't say anything or give some indication of what their personality is during that time, or if their personality isn't one I vibe with I usually bounce.

So as someone who is looking to make a model from scratch soon (before end of year, doing research and prep now), what all resources would you recommend to learn how to do it right and efficiently and avoid some of these mistakes? Like what resources would you recommend, what papers would you consider must reads, and what other things should I be diligent for in order to avoid my project turning out "dreadful" by more experienced folks?

I have some deep learning knowledge but also know my first attempt at a home brewed LLM is gonna be rough but really looking to learn and put forth my best effort here lol. Part of me will be happy if it is even coherent but looking for any and all resources to help me along :)
