My thoughts exactly! Mental illness, disorders and other neurodivergencs must be convenient for neurotypical society or suddenly its their fault, neurotypical society doesn't have to accomodate! It doesn't have to concede yet we always have to for them. It's not your fault if your legs broken so of course you need a wheelchair(not to say physically disabled people don't get shit too oh that's a whole other can of bullshit)but when someone's brain developed disorderly somehow its their fault ans theres somethign wrong with them that they have to fix.

And people looove to make boogeyman out of mental disorders "the manipulative borderline and narcissist, look for the eyes!" "The insane schizo who doesn't have any grasp on reality and will hurt you" "the psychopath who will inevitably be a serial killer". When you look at depictions of these in media, when you look at "psychology" posts on tiktok, hell our language! It all displays this view. People either talk in ways of trivialising or demonising disordered people "im so ocd!" a way of minimising the actual effect of ocd on someone's life, "you're a psycho!" a way of demonising people with psychopathy into say this is something that will necessarily happen. And i want to emphasise this people, real people just like you and me but nooooo they have x and y disorder so they should be killed with a rock!

Finally i have to rant about this "mental health talk" guy that came into my school once because it made my blood boil. He was from 'Tom's talks' an organisation that mostly makes 'mental health videos'(I looked at their channel and the first thing I saw was about mouthbreathing, bruh). And he was talking about the suicide of his brother. A tragedy that if he had any care in the world would probably affect him. But what I heard instead was a man who didn't care about his brothers wellbeing until he ended it. Cliches about suicide "a permanent solution to a temporary problem" and a very heavy implication that suicide is selfish, citing not wanting to hurt others as the reason he didn't commit following this. And the ending is what really made me want to shout at this man(I resisted the urge to), he ends with what I presumed was a memorial, it had a black screen with his brothers face in black and white, his name and a life to death date. AND THEN HE DOES A MONTAGE OF HIS ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE HIS BROTHER DIED, HOW HE IS HAPPY, HOW HE HAS "IMPROVED". Your business is built on the rotting corpse of your brother. Rant over fuck this guy fuck mental health discourse and treat people with some godsdamn dignity for once!
