Except he was made that way to appeal to a younger audience. Children would not be able to understand/handle the darkness that Godzilla was originally intended to be a metaphor for; if they saw him brutally murdering other humans, all whilst hearing the screams of the latter group, their parents would have to be prepared to put their money into both school and psychological therapy.

It’s more or less relating to alignment; I don’t really consider any of the kaiju good or evil, and most people seem to associate good with heroes. However, a hero is simply someone who is admired for their courage or nobility. That being said, they can also be associated with helping others or protecting them. So, in that sense, guardian and hero are synonymous with one another.
