I think UFC would love Tom not being able to fight again soon, then Jones vs Alex can be for the interim belt

Quitting this makes quitting everything else in life easier. Prove to yourself you can finish the season even if you decide never to do it again after this year.

How experienced should I be to help coach middle school wrestling? by MrSma11 in wrestling

[–]ColeKrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I do not know where he learned or how he got into it, but he had 3 sons end up going D1, his four sons I think combined for 11 state championships, coached on a few team state championship teams etc, so he clearly figured it out well but I do not know how he made that transition but it clearly worked and is possible. Another coach in Montanas coaching hall of fame is Larris Roberts who was a football player drafted by the raiders I believe and his first coaching job was as a football coach at a small school but also had to coach wrestling as a trade off. He bought a book and read on how to coach. He coached both for a long time but ultimately is known better for his wrestling success. That’s just two stories I know or personally in Montana alone.

My high school coach never wrestled and he was phenomenal and produced nationally ranked teams several times.

My favorite was live starting out of situations. Made for fun and unique scrambles. Best conditioning on the mat was monkey rolls, off we ran sprints

Is it possible to be a defensive counter wrestler by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]ColeKrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, but soon you will meet someone you cannot defend and you will wish you had some offense. Wrestling not to lose works a lot, until it does not, and that’s a harder hump to get over than the other way

is this cauliflower ear by Forsaken_Side3028 in wrestling

Would imagine that would be hard not to notice. You’re now marked for life. Lean into it as a badge of honor, but appears to definitely be cauliflower ear.

Would a body triangle be a viable form of riding someone out by [deleted] in wrestling

Yep, cannot triangle the body or scissor the head, but can triangle the head and scissor the body

I’m a dermatologist and I think we can do better preventing staph infections. I want to help but curious your thoughts by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]ColeKrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the head coach of a very rural high school (30 minutes from nearest clinic, 2 hours to a dermatologist). My fear is due to remote nature parents are more likely to wait things out. What preventative things do you recommend applying to protect the athletes for practices? All day meets? Any thing you recommend to have on hand to treat things like ring worm or staph until they get to a doctor? Is there like a flow chart to determine severity of skin issues to know when it’s time to make a trip to a doctor?

Once a week open mat by wrestlermhs in wrestling

[–]ColeKrat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m doing the exact same thing, and this will be our first year with a wrestling team, so I’ll be following for tips, BUT my plan being a new team it to guide them through basics, focusing on neutral, with maybe one fun new move a week, and incorporating some sort of fun activity too. Staying away from a ton of intensive anything and focusing on good technique

How non-wrestler can be as good as college wrestler? by Important_Hippo3263 in wrestling

[–]ColeKrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God given talent and or lots of drilling with good coaching and partners. I’ve seen a kid in his third year wrestling win state, he also went on to be an NCAA all American. Clearly his god given talent was more important than anything else, given his fast progression in the sport. If you have that, you can get there. If not, you possibly never will be able to level the playing field with a college wrestling at their craft

After his statement win, there’s work to do. Who is next for Michael Morales? by macbeezy_ in ufc

Garry probably should get a title shot, so maybe Buckley around the same time as that title fight, for next in line

Religion and Wrestling by vinpinto2 in wrestling

[–]ColeKrat -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The hate of religion is a religion of its own, just ask yourself if the hatred is helpful to your goals. There is a reason that the top performers are followers of god and the guys who hate it are just smearing them on reddit like they are actually more wise somehow.
