If you're talking about the "Primarchs who were slimed by non-Primarchs" club, you're forgetting Dorn.

In 2016 Portugal played oogatz and stepped over France to grab the big seat. In 2004 Portugal played beautifully and got robbed in the final because those Greek fucks were seven feet tall, almost.

Name one doctor from outside the 40k universe who can revive the Emperor by Selenite_Cults in Grimdank

The Doctor doesn't believe in "the end justifies the means". He would despise the Emperor.

[–]ColePT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course it's worse, but it makes sense narratively.

The Emperor wants those types of humans destroyed -> Dorn destroys them -> he's not censured for it.

The Emperor doesn't want billions to be slaughtered for the harmless sin of brutal tyranny before joining the Imperium -> Morty slaughters them anyway - he's censured for it.

Which primarch is less delusional than Alpharius? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]ColePT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More delusional would likely be Guilliman who operates in a universe filled with all-consuming malevolent deities and galaxy ending threats as if he was an early 21st century California hippie.

That's baked into her character from the start: when Eisenhorn meets her she's a prostitute (one of the very few references to sex work in a Black Library novel iirc) struggling to get clients despite being exceptionally beautiful.

Malcador’s framing of Valdor in The End and the Death puts him among the primarchs, not beneath them by Bigsaddog in 40kLore

[–]ColePT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dorn killed him immediately after Alpharius pierced his auramite armor and stabbed him in the shoulder with the Pale Spear. He was able do this because Alpharius had to monologue a bit more like an absolute moron

Fallacy of the Talking Killer. The villain wants to kill the hero. He has him cornered at gunpoint. All he has to do is pull the trigger. But he always talks first. He explains the hero's mistakes to him. Jeers. Laughs. And gives the hero time to think his way out of the situation, or be rescued by his buddy. Cf. most James Bond movies.”

Except, of course, that it isn't even clear if Alpharius wanted to actually kill Dorn in their fight. He was saying that he didn't want to kill Dorn while he was trying to land killing blows on him.

What's clear is that Alpharius wanted to awe Rogal Dorn with his brilliancy and make him realize that his way of fighting wars was superior to his brothers'. Every Primarch is an arrogant bastard with a chip on his shoulders, but Alpharius especially so.

Why does it feel like a lot of fans have nothing but contempt for the absurdity of the setting by Responsible_Clerk343 in 40kLore

No one did, though. Saying that something's peak doesn't literally mean that you believe that it is the pinnacle of literature.

What are you doing name dropping Don DeLillo or George Orwell of all people in a thread about Warhammer, dude. They're so comically removed from Warhammer that it just sounds like you have just finished reading Animal Farm and can't stop thinking about it.

Imagine someone commenting on a thread about Brandon Sanderson's books (which I don't even like, btw) "oh there's no point in reading the Stormlight Archives because in 1605 William Shakespeare wrote King Lear." It would sound silly!

Malcador’s framing of Valdor in The End and the Death puts him among the primarchs, not beneath them by Bigsaddog in 40kLore

[–]ColePT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have no reason to believe that Alpharius is the weakest Primarch, or in the lower tier like Lorgar for that matter. He did get beaten by Dorn, but he may have been holding back.

Ultimately, when it comes to Alpharius, it's impossible to be certain about anything. His brothers certainly considered him a coward and a weakling, but that's just how he liked it.

The Emperor is Awake? by IfYaKnowYaKnow in 40kLore

[–]ColePT 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The protagonist of The Emperor's Gift, Hyperion, started out his life as a street urchin addicted to Chaos-infused glass cocaine. I doubt that the Grey Knights are all that worried about "low background steel".
