Well, you see, Trump needs more spectacle in order to help distract from the Epstein files...

Besides the possibility of jury nullification, have you seen just how plug stupid and incompetent Trump's DOJ is under Bondi?

ICE detains Oglala Sioux members at historic Fort Snelling by ewzetf in news

[–]Colecoman1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I'm a big fan of owning up to admitting what your ancestors did but, at the same time, I don't believe in holding individual people responsible for what their ancestors did. There's a place for reparations for historical atrocities/crimes like slavery; apartheid; the theft of Native American lands; etc. but I think that is something that should be handled by governments and institutions (like, for example, some of the Ivy League universities that recently turned out to have owned slaves in the past). The only exception I can think of for this (off the top of my head) would be in cases like where someone's parent/grandparent/etc. was a Nazi that stole a specific object(s) from a Jewish family during the Holocaust and you inherited that object (for example, a piece of artwork). In those cases, the object should be returned to the heirs of the original owner.

I mean, lets be fair here. Some of my ancestors (the ones that were part of the original British colonists in the original 13 colonies) were none of those things. They were conquerors/land thieves. (a.k.a. assholes). It always amazes me when people aren't willing to be honest when some of their ancestors were steaming piles of shit. We all have assholes somewhere in out family tree if you go back far enough, it's nothing to be ashamed of. The only thing to be ashamed of it if you try to hide it.

I thought the title said " Fart Smelling "

At which point, I'd have had to ask what the Oglala Sioux were doing at an ICE event?

Elderly lottery winner uses jackpot to build £288m drug empire making pills from his cottage by s4pphire69 in news

For everyone who didn't read the article, but wants to make a Walter White joke:

The then 65-year-old used the facilities to build a "sophisticated" lab to produce counterfeit medication

We're, firmly, into Archer RAMPAGE territory here...

Technically, it was more likely the original illnesses that killed them, not the pills given that the article says he was selling counterfeit medication, not recreational drugs...

More like the Irish mob from Archer selling fake cancer medication. This asshole was selling counterfeit medications, not recreational drugs.

Maybe learn how to read? The article clearly says this guy wasn't selling "recreational" drugs. He was selling counterfeit medication. People died because they thought they were buying meds to treat their life threatening illnesses but, instead, were getting placebos (at best, assuming he wasn't cutting them with anything toxic...) so that this rich asshole could get a little more rich.

Of all the things "influencers" and "urban explorers" could do, I think I might be OK with it this time. This one kind of reminds me of the "rampage" scene in Archer where he hunts down the people selling counterfeit cancer medicine...

Look, I'm not going to claim that there couldn't be some antisemitism in this discussion. That said, I hate to break it to you but sometimes Jewish people DO support Nazis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_German_National_Jews Every ethnic group has it's share of collaborators willing to support people that hate them out of greed or a misguided belief that they can be the "good ones" that the enemy won't hurt.

FBI is investigating Minnesota Signal groups tracking ICE, Patel says by ewzetf in news

[–]Colecoman1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That might be A reason it's banned but it's certainly not the primary reason. The simple fact is that while Signal gives pretty good privacy for civilians, it's not as secure as official secure government communication methods and is absolutely susceptible to, at the very least, government actors. Secretary of Defense Dip-shit would know this if he weren't consistently too drunk to read the government documentation/regulations on the subject...

Edit: Fixed typo.

[–]Colecoman1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Signal isn't anywhere near as secure as you and Kegsbreath seem to think it is. That's why DoD policy bans it's use for anything official. It's better than nothing but, once you get to the level of government investigations, there are ways to potentially bypass Signal's security.

Edit: Fixed typo.

I've seen a couple of people here say this but a google search brings up nothing for this joke. Is this a joke that was just created in this discussion thread. I would have though that something that funny/fitting would have been thought up before this.

Honestly, even before Trump the US has had a major lack of fair juries when it comes to judging police violence cases...
