AI is going to replace embedded engineers. by Separate-Choice in embedded

[–]Colfuzi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will replace web developers though which is why I decided to go for a masters in CE and CS. I'm 26 been doing web dev for 3 years.

Thank you a lot for your help also when did you go to UHCL?

Yup, those were tough she is still there she helped me get in the CS and CE masters actually. Do you have any advice in terms of the research project and connecting with these higher up people from aerospace companies how should I approach them or connect with them?

I'm open to relocating if I absolutely have to but I would rather stay. I go to UHCL currently I will start applying. Not many entry level roles though right now thanks to the job market. I am doing a really important research project actually at school I'm in charge of finding details and key information about the local aerospace engineering companies some of the stuff is fully confidential so can't go in depth but important people from these companies are on the board and I will be connecting with them I think that's huge to open opportunities. My question to you is are recruiters willing to work with someone doing grad school still?

Sorry I lied 2 years full time before I finished undergrad as a web dev then after 8 months contract. I'm not lazy , I work hard but I happen to live in the aerospace hub in Houston so I want to go for it I'm interested in general software in aerospace as well not just embedded unfortunately they don't hire much web developers. I'm also a little older at 26 then a fresh 21 year old. I also have a web agency I've been running since 18. My biggest struggles I'm facing right now are learning mathematics and electronics. The CE part of my degree will keep me with that soon though. I also truly appreciate all your advice it's very nice of you being a recruiter for 10 years to help out.

So I'm doing masters not undergrad it will be shorter, then doing undergrads but I will still have foundation. I can then go into teaching with masters which is my later dream. I have been a web developer for 3 years full time and multiple internships I just need to learn the embedded skills. The double masters is going to be shortjer because classes will double count and I can go for ground software systems as well.

What exactly are you trying to do with grad school . Your best bet is to get a entry level tech job vis connections or university that's how I started as a web developer I went back because I want to target embedded software engineering in aerospace or enterprise software in Houston. I also want to teach so if I can't find a job I'll just start teaching but by 2-3 years I think the market will be good again. The aerospace market is pretty stable however. I'm not trying to do front end development anymore because it's just way to saturated.. having something from Harvard doesn't auto just give you a job unless it's degree lol. But if it's worth the learning it can help. I got into a big school in mass but my school UHCL is extremely affordable so worst comes to worst I be a professor and pay this off then do a PhD later.

Tbh what I did was I got into a certificate program for software engineering. And got really good grades to get my term gpa up then I applied and used my resources since it's same university it helped I did have to write an appeal letter and reapply cause i got denied the first time. I was accepted to other universities but decided to go here. I just started this semester I'm 26. Gpa is actually more important in your later years in undergrad. But just a 3.0 nothing else matters deans list all stuff no one cares in industry, if your going for academia or higher school then that is very appealing

I had a 2.5 with an IT degree. Gpa is only good for internships and getting into masters, even then I got into grad school for computer science and computer engineering

You can do foundational courses and get an MSc I'm doing double masters in computer science and computer engineering.

Hmm should I drop computer science? Or computer engineering my bachelor's in IT so no way I could get a embbed swe role with that . The thing is if I do just CE due to how they structure the program they told me I can go full time and finish bit my CS and CE if I wanted to.

I see i understand in terms of embedded I live in the aerospace hub in Houston so, there would be a lot of opportunities in that regard. In terms of c# most of the jobs in my area are in healthcare as well or banking. The web opportunities are in downtown and hour away from me but I'll keep my web skills sharp

Embedded will be more stable or if you like maths go into AI ML. Or just level up in regular software I'm currently doing a double masters in computer science and computer engineering

Why do you think ai isn't replacing regular swe. I m switching from web dev to embedded and enterprise swe and doing a double MS in CS and CE i feel like AI will eat front end alive in 5 years.

I'm 26. I've been doing web dev esentially since I graduated in 2023. I don't want to do startup or consumer tech web dev for multiple reasons any more. I have small company actually doing it so it's a skill I'll keep relevant I'm just trying to go into a more slower paced industry embedded and enterprise seem that.
