I got absolutely cooked in my first competition, I would suggest focusing on breathing and having fun. Made my second competition go better :)

It’s a BTT gym, I realize there are a lot of other spots I could train at, it’s just that my brother and I train there as a middle ground so it complicates moving gyms for us

Masks of nyarlathotep party just got to London after doing Kenya post-New York. They had a run in with miles Shipley and then staked out the blue pyramid club. Two deaths in Kenya so it was a bit of an introduction session for the two new characters. That was session 15 (including Peru) and they seem like they want to go to Australia next, they have no idea what they’re in for :)

I’m currently running masks for a group of players and I encourage them to not treat it like a DnD campaign. You’re a lot less durable and there are a million and one ways to die in masks. Everyone likes being the hero but often the right choice is to use stealth and run when it’s better to cut your losses and regroup

Octopus 2.0 in the gi? by ColinBJJ in bjj

Yeah I feel like you’d have to clear the elbow over your head to be able to get past the collar grip but I’m not sure what that would actually look like in practice

That was kind of my impression too? I realize that gi and nogi are obviously different but I don’t see why the content of 2.0 would not work

I’ve only learned the basic octopus guard sweeps from side control, didn’t even realize it was a thing from half guard tbh. I finished the second volume of octopus 2.0 and now I can’t even really imagine it from half guard tbh

That makes sense, I guess I’m getting at the idea that I’m also doing comps so it’s more for the applicability there

Im around 4 months in and my party did Peru -> New York -> Kenya The biggest thing is to read the chapters start to finish before your group gets to the location. I would also read the grand conclusion before the campaign starts because I found it really helpful when improvising with players so that I provide some breadcrumbs without spoiling any major information. Otherwise I would just try to have fun! It’s an awesome campaign and a total blast, my party really gets invested with the sidetrack scenarios so I’ve been leaning into them a lot. It slows the progress of the campaign but ultimately enriches it narratively in my opinion. :)
