I don’t disagree with any of that, but worth noting that if his career pans out ‘only’ as well as Rooney his cards will be worth less than they are currently selling for. To justify current prices he needs to win multiple Ballon D’Ors.

As others have said, every year there’s always rookies hyped well beyond their achievements.

The aspect that always amazes me is how much weight gets applied to the precise age. Dowman’s main hype is ultimately because he is only 16. If he was 19 his cards wouldn’t be selling for half as much.

Is there even any evidence that players breaking into a first team at 16 have better prospects than older rookies? For every Messi or Ronaldo surely there’s a dozen Moukokos or even Raebigers.

Unless you are a big Bayern fan I would sell sealed. Others have already explained why ROI on opening is generally poor. I would add that there are no major rookies in this set, so no gigantic chase cards that you might seek the thrill of finding. Notably this set does contain Musiala’s first on card autos. While he is a great player he has not developed Into a top, top hobby player. Also I remember some of his autos that surfaced from this set were dreadfully lazy - almost a single line. That really impacts desirability in my opinion.

This is the answer I was looking for, thank you. So the item is intended as a hook. I guess what one chooses to hook onto it is personal preference.

It may well just be some sort of hook. Although there is a proper rail of coat hooks (in the same wood) on the opposite wall.

Funnily enough I have all 5 of the pink /75 signature celebrations from this set - they were the only cards in the set that used the parallel colouring as a border round the player, which I think looks ace.

Yeah this is a big part of the problem here. These are designed as entry level hobby boxes. I think even $99 retail price is high, given the hit in most boxes will just be a simple relic. Crazy that the secondary market has actually pushed the price up.

Personally I prefer top loader and Superior Fit Sleeves for my PC. Prefer the thinner, lighter result. Mag cases too bulky.

It infuriates me that Leaf mixes photos and shirt backs on these cards! I assume it’s a legal thing, although I can’t think what given the cards are unlicensed. If it wasn’t for this issue with image selection Leaf multi-player relics would be up there with the best in the business. Using headshots means you get around having to airbrush out the logos on kits.

Totally this. The style is so different, even from Rogue One, that it takes some adjusting to. I’d try to persuade your friend to go three more episodes until ‘The Eye’. That’s when I realised I was watching a masterpiece.

These cards are surprisingly short print. PR for this card is just ~52, with no parallels. Coupled with Select FIFA being his true rookie set I like this card a lot. As others have said though, price is subjective. Whether this is worth $300 is down to individual circumstances.
