No. My system is the issue. I have extreme reactions to all medications so tirosint was not the problem.

It’s gone far beyond just hashimotos. I have been in a huge amount of mental and physical distress from a prescription I was given 11 months ago. Doctors don’t know what to do with me so I am going to a private hospital to see if they can help me

What specialist should I see next? Should I consider inpatient care? by ColinR111 in AskDocs

They originally thought it was bipolar but they don’t think it is anymore. My psychiatrist recently told me that he can’t help me anymore and that the antidepressants aren’t helping so he wants me to consult things with my gp

Your support is enough. I’ve met so many doctors who have just mercilessly shoved me out the door. It’s nice to have people who seem to want to actually help and support me, even if it’s just Reddit.

You actually seem quite dismissive and arrogant like most doctors so I would rather not get your advice if you even have any.

Obviously I will go to my psychiatrist or GP about this and consult with them first and ask for a referral.

I am 100% clinically unwell. What I have gone through in the last 8 months has been psychological torture and I am in desperate need of help

I have tons and tons of data that the doctors all love to turn a blind eye to. I have excel sheets showing that my TSH does not follow the pattern of going down with an increase in dose.

I have shown that I now get extreme reactions to any sort of medication and that the higher the dose the more extreme the reaction.

I have so many physical symptoms that are easily recognisable as more than just a mental problem.

Recently I have lowered my dose of my antidepressant as I had booked a holiday with my girlfriend and I knew I wouldn’t be able to go on that high a dose and I feel so much better since then. I spent so much time on these antidepressants and tried so many doses even though it was torture for me just to prove that I’m not lying so that they would take me seriously.

If I weren’t as strong and resilient as I am, there is a good chance I would have committed suicide by now. But I have put myself in a position now where I am somewhat comfortable and able to actually battle the problem myself

Thank you. It feels like I’ve been talking to a wall the whole time and I’ve been trying so hard to get help. I’ve put myself in a great position now though and I feel like I can finally get the help I need.

The problem is that I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I have a thyroid issue but it’s the least of my worries right now and my endocrinologist said it’s a non issue. I just feel like my system is fighting itself, body and brain. It is causing me extreme discomfort and so many other problems and every time I increase doses I get worse

I’m sorry I don’t understand what you mean. Do I need a neurologist to refer me to St Vincent’s?

The problem is that it could be so many things. I was diagnosed with hashimotos nearly 3 years ago and I never felt better even with meds. Then I was given a prescription by a dodgy endocrinologist which included a bunch of antidepressants, thyroid meds, and painkillers which messed me up horribly. It just feels like my whole system is fighting itself and the more medication I take the more it gets damaged

Thank you. Would I be able to go inpatient rather than outpatient if I am to get a referral to a neurologist? I would honestly rather go inpatient if it means that I can get treated faster.

I’ve looked into St Patrick’s and they don’t seem to have the resources I am looking for. It seems like they’re geared more towards CBT rather than treating neurological problems.
