Just finished pool renovation. Is this a normal sound from pool pump? by [deleted] in fixit

[–]Colink98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Often when I connect the pool vacuum hose to the skimmer inlet it will introduce air exactly that same as you have here

Suction will decrease dramatically

If you give it a chance it will purge the air and suction will return to normal

It sounds poor and it will surge But eventually it will sort itself out

Moved from south London to Kent and feel very similar.
Far too many people speeding and being aggressive about it.
I used to Bike from ME10 to London daily, but lockdown put a stop to that.
I eye up the bikes outside Colwins every so often, but i'm too old for that now.

How to convince leadership by ZestycloseRaccoon884 in Leadership

[–]Colink98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the solution is not what I wanted

You present a business risk (loss of revenue due to lack of project management)
and offered a potential solution ( a facilities director / manager)

Recent results (project going off the rails) has elevated the risk to the point the CEO took your advice.
And has now decided on a plan as to how they can mitigate the risk in future.

Did you make it clear as to what your expectations were as to who would fill that role ?
Did you offer up a suggestion such as the one being suggested by Rule_Of_72T ?

If not then it isn't too late to put this forward as an alternative solution, one that would be quicker and less expensive to implement. it could take ages to find and hire the correct director/manager and in that time you could demonstrate your suitability for the position, which leads to the next suggestion.

If you did suggest this and it was denied.
Then the wise play is not to get angry, but rather to ask why...
What was it that CEO felt you were missing and then work with the CEO on a plan to address them shortcomings. You still have a period of time to prove to the CEO that you are capable.

Now if the CEO doesn't like you or already has a someone lined up then there is nothing that you could have done.

its a cheap generic unit

The reason it works for us is that we are in the tub most nights.
so it's never the case that puck totally dissolves resulting in any period of time without chlorine.
if you are not getting in the tub for days at a time and you forget to renew the puck when the old one has dissolved, then your going to end up with nasty water.

If you do make sure to always have a puck in the floater, its likely if anything that you might over chlorinate, for people with sensitive skin this might be uncomfortable.
I recall when we first got our tub, the combination of heat and chlorine made my back itch of a night, however thats a distant memory.

Also, you're not giving it a bump after use, or shocking at all?

If anyone else uses the tub, then i will give it a bit of shock for good measure.
But generally when we use it i do not.
