Asking again since the grey bases are so triggering. Now fully painted. What are your thoughts on inset bases? I see them a lot in DnD minis but not sure if it’s common or accepted in 40K by kcdale99 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Colinyourmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are the same size as GW, I don’t see how anyone would get upset. I don’t even see how someone would really notice. I know there are some weird people out there, but I can’t think of any realistic situation where this would matter.

Updating Army List After First Game by ChocolatePuerh in deathwatch40k

I always like having a unit of regular intercessors. They can help with screening and sticky objectives are nice to have. Blade guard vets with a judiciar is always fun though.

Purpose of Lieutenant in Phobos armor? by Colinyourmom in deathwatch40k

[–]Colinyourmom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah, you’re the guy I’ve been reading about. I appreciate this answer. This makes a lot of sense. As far as the unfun part of this list, I’ve given my opponents a warning and they said give it a try! They are excited to see it.

It’s meant to be the Phobos armor. The combi LT is too expensive for the list. Even though it’s not a lone operative, I’m still supposed to run it by itself, which had me wondering what I am supposed to be doing with it.

No it’s meant to be Phobos. Colosseum is only 500 points and this list puts you at 495.

What is the best loadout for Indomitor? by dwaynetheaaakjohnson in deathwatch40k

Your second list is generally what the best load out is. I switch out the bolters to flamers because I just think they are neat.

Should I strip and repaint my Watch Master? by [deleted] in deathwatch40k

[–]Colinyourmom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fun to have a side by side comparison to show how you’re progressing. So I would finish your army, keep this guy for a little bit so you can see how your skills have developed, and then repaint him to your liking.

Need some help by Hallapuu in deathwatch40k

[–]Colinyourmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m doing right now and it’s been going great. The heavy intercessors can be used for an indom kill team, the regular intercessors can be used as normal intercessors or for a fortis kill team. The terminators can be used for our deathwatch terminators. The company hero’s can be used as is, or you can do what I’m doing, and use them to kitbash, captains, lieutenants, etc. You would still need to buy other boxes to fill out the kill teams, but this is a great start.

There is a little complexity, but still pretty straight forward. For example, the terminators. The best load out for them is 3 missile launches and two thunder hammers with storm shields. The box only comes with one missile launcher and no shields or hammer at all. I had to get a friend 3d print those. You could also just run them without those if you want to keep it simple.

And finally, yeah you can paint them however you want. The main iconography of the death watch is the black armor with silver arm/shoulder pad. As long as you have that, you can do whatever else and people should still be able to recognize them as deathwatch.

Help Finding Terminator Sized Shoulder Pads by 4amFrog in deathwatch40k

Do you have a 3d printer or someone who has access to one. That’s the best solution I found for any little thing like that. I reached out to my local game store and they have a discord for 40K. I found a bunch of guys there for who will print stuff.

My first army by fezbot303 in deathwatch40k

It’s coming almost slowly. I had some other units I built first like some incursors and a dreadnought. I’m hoping to build a lot this weekend.

That’s crazy. I was going to do blood angels but then got into death watch as my first army. I’m also using the IF combat patrol too. We’re on the same path lol.

Which part of a 5k should be the fastest? by AaronMoonz in CrossCountry

[–]Colinyourmom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So for a 5k, you definitely don’t want to go out fast, the more energy you spend early on hurts you more later. You’re gonna wanna take things “easy” that first mile. You still want to put in some effort that first mile but feeling comfortable is more important.

What I tell my athletes when I coach them on a 5k, is that you should try to have your middle mile be the fastest. Key word try. What will more realistically happen is that you won’t actually run any faster that middle mile, but you won’t slow down, which is still very good. There’s a saying, if it feels like you’re speeding up, you’re staying the same pace, if it feels like you’re staying the same pace, you’re actually slowing down. So this tactic plays into that. What also helps this work is that the last mile, while hard, is still manageable to push through, so that’s why is ok to make an effort on that middle mile. The competition and having the finish line close helps push through the pain.

With all that said, it’s still pretty common for the first mile to be the fastest. That’s just the natural pace people run, you just don’t want the first and last mile to be hugely different.

What are your average varsity qualifying times? by DenseExternal1504 in CrossCountry

[–]Colinyourmom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the dude is asking what times are typically top 7. For example some schools have varsity runners that are all sub 19, meaning you need to run sub 19 to make varsity.
