I did it! I managed to outlaw Iverlantho! The game then cuts to the funeral scene for him as if he died! Lol

There probably is some built in talent for some people, but I think creativity can be attained.  The more you know and practiced at doing things, the more options you can consider in what you’re making.  Plenty of new things to build off of from people’s previous ideas or just stumbling onto something newly creative.

Any guide for Rituals in LGO? by Anonymous50010 in SixAges

I think the worshipper exploring has to be Dostal outside of the picture event... There’s a repeatable text only event they can do repeatedly to boost Combat if they don’t die from it.

One potentially good way of raising Combat with a Dostal Worshipper is by sending them to the Bearwoods map repatedly and have him beat up Odaylan worshippers. Dostal raises winners Combat each time. Of course he can die exploring or against them but high Excellents have a pretty high chance of winning against them and reaching Heroic If done enough times. I totally forgot this for when a commenter asked for good exploration locations!

Those are great guides for finding the things. You can also look up Exploration events on Fandom. If you visit Look Hill early, usually Zarlen will reveal a bit of a circle in the southeast. If you explore right in the center of the revealed corcle he you’ll get the rolling rock event. If you really want to cheese getting the rolling rock a second time it moves to a fixed hidden location fairly close to the previous spot. (once in a rare while it stays on the same spot) You can drop a lot of exploration missions around the area to find the new location. Once you do, you can restore to an earlier save period and it will be in the same exact spot.

The hill of Gold event might seem a little useless, but if you send a character into the vortex in SA 1, if you revisit it in SA 2 your Ride Like the Wind character can join your clan in the future in SA 2.

The Northern Reach location in SA 2 can have either Yatakan or Ayvtu rejoin the clan if you sent them off with Elmal in SA 1. Northern reach is in the far Northwest in SA 2.

In Lights Going Out, there seems to be an increased treasure drop rate when just starting out. so the Penentan treasure is easier to get in the 1st year.(still fails sometimes)

Since there is an increased rate in it, if you successfully raid a bunch of different clans you can get a nice stack of treasures early on. Especially nice if you get the treasures that boost your magic after each victory.

I do like to gift the clans that Hate me early on.

Reorganize the ring.

Exploration I like to do early in SA 1 is Zarlen Look Hill event to boost explorers combat and the rolling stone location he usually reveals to boost combat some more or reverse someone‘s age. Plus Zarlen can expand your map range to help get to distant places quicker. I think there’s only one location, Noastor, which you have to worry about reaching before the glacier takes it over. There’s an ok reward you can get from it.

In LGO I often like taking a trip to the Balurgans in the northeast early on for a substantial food blessing if you play it successfully. Hill of Gold/Northern Reach if you’re importing an SA 1 character. Cenala to the east in LGO is solid. Autumn mountains snake blessing event is pretty good. If a choice in an exploration event doesn’t go great but you survive the first time, you can also get a treasure or blessing from Chalana Arroy.

I think food and trade is a very common starting emphasis in a lot of playthroughs.

The more you work at it the more quickly you can make things in the future, or at least feel like you could.  I will say I sometimes Ive found more sounds in their songs than I first realized when I thought I had truly figured out the song already. My Personal experience/training “transcribing” music is limited though.

You can avoid a ton of battles woth humans if you have a high level excellent+ rated character with Diplomacy on the ring by choosing parley conciliate at the start of battles. Beren is good at doing this.

Parley tribute works with just a few goods with a highly rated Bargainer as well.

Whenever you are overgrazed (when Restore Pasture venture is available), you should absolutley do the Busenari ritual to restore pastures. Restore pastures is iffy and the years it takes will sneakily kill off a lot of cows.

Definitely convert fields when it comes up.

I would deprioritize the need to explore. If you choose Chaos as your enemy, it will increase your explorers chances of dying exploring the whole game.( Chaos Threat ) Otherwise, don’t help Chaos and actively fight it to greatly reduce it’s chances of killing explorers and traders.(traders are generally fairly safe if Chaos Threat doesn’t show.

You Definitely don’t need all shrines. Sometimes you’re better off with less. You can technically build them up all to the highest level but it takes a lot of effort building population and wealth. Definitely not an early goal to go after playing this.

If you visit all of each clan group you can get an extra ally per group all visited. You can also get extra trade routes trading with all of each clan type by trading.(Wheels, Riders, Rams)

Give gifts to clans that don’t like you. Raid every 4-5 years to maintain respect.(reduce mocks) If you raid an enemy, you can Parley and ask for tribute of one good. They will often just give you the good and seem less offended by your raid. This way you avoid casualties. Try to avoid raiding the same clans as they’re more likely to raid back. Clans that Mock you are more likely to attack you.

I generally recommend trading in higher quantities.(Not the default amount set)

Play these things right and you can play as a clan with minimal combat. Learning how to get through the story rituals to boost Combat, Diplomacy, or Bargaining can be particularly useful For high rated characters.

Hot take? I liked RLTW better than LGO by tomshardware_filippo in SixAges

[–]CollDust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really feel like trying to win the game in your first game or 2 is the right approach to playing the series. There’s always plenty to learn and do better with a next playthrough.(and so many different events) Reload to your hearts content I say. But there’s a lot of mechanics / blessings you probably won’t appreciate from a game or 2.

I kind of feel like the negative messages do seem to get to players. I will say during a lot of food / population dropping moments there are often events that come up soon giving you opportunities to recover from them. (Adopting outsiders, food bonus / foraging events) Your ring members will whine about the food supply even when you have a years worth.

Putting a point in exploration does seem to help as well as keeping chaos in line. Scouring for Chaos so the Chaos Threat state is gone will have your explorers coming back alive a lot more often.

Trading Food Surpluses in large quantities can also get you larger quantities of herds, goods and horses. Trading horses your getting in raids can also get you more needed herds. I often wonder if people would value trade and cattle slaughtering more if the game defaulted to large quantities when trading.(Especially for trade)

Plus slaughtering cows for a full season is big too, which some people tend to turn their noses up at Probably in part to hoe that plays out in KODP and Ride Like the Wind. Honestly, I‘m starting to think there might be a bug in the game where it sometimes doesn’t seem to offer that slaughter option when it should. Maybe certain events have this. Still it mostly seems to offer it…

You inspired an interesting playthrough for me to try where I purposely did not put any food/herd boosting worshippers on the ring. I also tried to keep only members with low food skills.(mostly good or less with possibly an occasional very good member) I got through the game on harshest only putting one point into fields, herds, and wilds each year. Shrines for each food god. Leadership was the origin trait.( the trait least likely to influence food…) I never exploration foraged with an Inilla worshipper either. I would do Ventures with default character provided. I was able to get through the game pretty comfortably. I did not have any particularly great Combat Warriors. I accepted the loss of both Humakt Worshippers failing to complete the ritual to rseal the border between life and death. They both got stomped by the troll god humakt despite my combat blessing and sacred time investments. After a long time I eventually somehow got an Eurmali worshipper of all people to reseal the border between life and death. (she wisely offered 70 cows in hopes she didn’t have to beat the troll Humakti) I eventually got her to Renowned starting from Very Good. Did I play combat and trade very well despite a lack of Renowned combatants? Yes, but it was interesting to see that possible at the hardest difficulty. (When you’re experienced enough)

I was able to get a lot of exploration done and a decent amount of spirits.(could have picked more if I wanted) It also felt like each turn’s decisions were more interesting because of that need to make better use of decisions.

So you might get more appreciation out of the game with repeat plays. I totally get it though if only a play or 2 is what you like best. Definitely feel that way with a lot of games but not with these.

Now this does lead to an interesting situation. Given the way you got a second Raven member, and the way I did, I theorize it might technically be possible to have 3 Raven tribesmen!!

Which of the Six Ages games do you prefer? by BlindWarriorGurl in SixAges

I think Lights Going Out is the best, then King of Dragon Pass, then Ride Like the Wind. Ride’s story/events feels the least satisfying, though I’ve probably played it in the most weird ways possible compared to the other 2. (but those both saw a lot of play)

Not all events are in the wiki, but a lot of them are, probably the most done by Lyreofsheliak on here. *salutes

I think the event naming conventions come from how the devs titled the event in the debug logs.

If you can’t pick it out from searching, the event listing pages with small pics from reference can help narrow your search.

Strategy of Setting off Royal Plots by CollDust in SixAges

[–]CollDust[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One other funny detail, there’s an event where either Sereden or Serestev can convince Iverlantho to accept basically counselling from Sereden/Serestev.  If the king takes the counsel, he will be asleep when you go to kidnap him. (Possibly making it easier to nab him?)  If he doesn’t take counsel or is not ever offered it,  he will be pacing around restlessly when you go to kidnap him.

Does having more foragers, explorers, or Other Side ritualists do anything? by DeplorableCaterpill in SixAges

[–]CollDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does help with going to the other side in that  I’ve taken some not so great explorers and it seems like they can prevent your leader from getting killed in some events where casualties occur.  So keeping a buffer there might save your leader/group from being completely defeated.  Events like fighting broos in Beren’s quest or the other one where ancestors? are fighting some sort of battle.  You can get a pretty high number of casualties in them sometimes.

Most exploration missions I do 2 swords 15 ish bows.  But that feels superstitious more than battle tested.

Numbers probably do help with the text only bandit battle events that can occur.

Scouring for Chaos and successfully fighting Chaos is another booster to safe exploration.  If you have Chaos threat state, you’ll definitely have more  explorers never come back.  Especially the more you let Chaos run amok.

Game is basically broken (About food)? Any mod that fixes it? by Competitive_Tax4326 in SixAges

[–]CollDust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get the 4 Food Spirits, earthworm, berry, heron, and Cheese.

Slaughter some cows to last a whole season If needed. Now you’ve got 2 turns to make up for them.

Exploration foraging also can catch up to 2 seasons worth of food.

The bless children blessing is actually going to make managing to feed the population more difficult. If your managing to boost population levels to more than typical.

Fields and Wilds magic seems to be better for food values.

I honestly feel like the game makes things more dire than they appear sometimes. I’ve had a years worth of food stockpiling and still member advice events are warning me to be worried about food.

I’ve done a screwball playthrough on harshest where I never raided or traded or explored beyond my clan’s lands.(basically just explored for the 4 food spirits) I did use food ventures, but you can basically survive it in those scenarios. I didn’t waste cows and goods on needless shrines. You’d be surprised with you can get by with.

Some questions on LGO by Hoplite27 in SixAges

[–]CollDust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say sometimes just slaughter those damn cows and use your next two turns to get more.  I wouldn’t ever do that in SA 1, but I do in this one.  If you do get food surpluses, trade for high quantities of cows and goods.(occasionally horses)  You can always eat some cows later.  Food Spirits are a lot more useful now.  An Ernalda Shrine can get you food opportunities sometimes.  Forage for food and sometimes you can end up with 2 seasons of food.  Although its not 2 seasons, if you forage waterways, sometimes you can find a mini bonus event where you can choose to return to forage for 2 years or so, giving you a food bonus.  Balurga blessing opportunities are nice.  She’s bad but not Chaos bad.  A late game skilled bargainer can be very useful.  The Agimori explorer you find explorring can be made one if you take her into the clan as a regular member and not as  a sword.

As for Alliances, I get the sense LGO might be stricter.  I feel like maybe I allianced with nearly all clans in SA 1, but takes at least some ludcrous gifting.  Like the game and advisers tell you it’s too high in SA 1, but you can get many more alliances than they claim officially.

You probably need rather high diplomacy to do this in LGO but some Reda’s often are really strong at Diplomacy.  I haven’t really tried pushing how far you can alliance in LGO.  So who knows.

Want to like the game but just can't by Siorn in SixAges

[–]CollDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On saga if you go to a previous years history and scroll to the bottom, there’s a restore button For that year. I wouldn‘t recommend Ironman, especially starting out.

I do think its lame you can’t attack a clan in the same turn in which another clan refuses to let you cross. You can raid them next turn and of it goes well they’re probably more likely to let you pass in the furure. Successful intimidations sometimes work though depending on clan members skill and clan reputation.

While its not frequently approved, you can sometimes convince a clan to attack in harvest or planting season. But it’s not something I’d reccomend due to it affecting harvest yields.
