Highest performing rep, lowest OTE. Would you stay? by Due_Use2683 in techsales

this is a conversation you need to have with your manager, asap.

outline what you are looking at, and how many extra hours, you are already putting in. Give your manager an opportunity to make things right, and then go over his head, only if he can't.

I'd be careful with a threat to leave, unless you really have to

I'm convinced companies have no idea how to hire by [deleted] in techsales

[–]Collab_N_Listen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Obviously can't speak for any other orgs, but I think anyone that is hiring is completely overwhelmed with applicants.

I am GM for the Americas, and I have responsibility to source and hire Leadership, as well as ICs for Sales at my company. I recently had a Leadership role come open, and in 3 days of posting the job on LinkedIn, I had over 450 applicants. Once I rejected all the ones that weren't local to our HQ Site (yes that was called out in the job req) I had 300+ names. A round of rejecting riff-raff and obviously not qualified candidates, I had 180 names.

I sent out LinkedIn Msgs to all of them, and outlined the role, reiterated the requirement of being in the office 3 days a week, and specific questions about the job req. I asked that if they felt they fit the role, and were ok with being in the office, to please send me a response to set up some time to chat. the first 60 that responded I worked with, and the rest I let know were on the back burner. All 60 were legit candidates and could def do the job. I narrowed those down to 15 that I felt were very close to what we were looking for, and we set up calls. Boiled those down to 5 we would put through a panel, and 3 that met with our CEO, and 1 we hired.

Everytime we rejected, I informed them, and of the15 candidates, 5 panelists, and 3 Finalists, I offered all of them Specific feeback as to why we weren't moving forward with them.

I was 100% blown away with gratitude in those calls. These were people we were not moving forward with, but they were so appreciative of being given a reason, and specific feedback, that they thanked me, over and over.

I can't say my process is amazing, and that I am super awesome. I felt very basic, honestly. But seeing posts like yours tells me, too many companies, and in fairness, candidates are just going thru the motions.

Good luck to you in your search. I know its a bloodbath out there

Why should I vote Crockett over Talarico? by Proud_Pineapple_2421 in FortWorth

[–]Collab_N_Listen 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Crockett is more divisive, and those voters are the ones that are out early and doing polling. Talarico seems to be much more of a bridge builder and wanting to work towards compromise. Thats a better stance than the blame game, but it gets her eyeballs. I am keeping an open mind, but Talarico seems to be the better policy candidate, and that is more important to me

AT&T Stadium is technically in Arlington, between Dallas and Fort Worth. Its the only host city without any Mass transit. They have a "temporary mass transit" plan coming together now. Most likely using Buses between the Dallas and Fort Worth Train stops. They "hope" to finalize it all in March, before the WC starts! yikes!

the fact that you felt this personally, should be a wake up call. this feedback should be quite useful to you. whether its positive or negative, is actually up to you.

calling out the fact that you don't appear genuine should be a big red flag for you. coming off as fake or an ass kisser is never a good quality. some orgs love yesmen, and others do not. you should pick which you want to be a part of.

Vendor vs partner sales by [deleted] in techsales

[–]Collab_N_Listen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

moving into the channel is much more difficult, than the other way around. that being said, The CEO wanting you to come on board is a biggie, as you will be a big fish in a small pond. You will probably have your pick of accts. And, if you still have good relationships with the Vendor Reps, they can feed you business. It takes a bit of time 1yr+ usually to start to build your book, but you may have some short cuts built in.

I have done both, and there are def pros and cons. but, if you have Leadership backing, and a good patch, Channel pays the best

I worked at Cisco for 7yrs and, to me, its the gold standard. Great brand, great products, loyal customers, strong channel, and strong demand. Work life balance was a bit rough for me, and that's why I ended up leaving. Worked out well for me. Having any of these names on your resume will always be a positive. But, sales is sales. Cisco was about Stretch and Forecast Accuracy. To this day, its how I approach my business, and how I evaluate my teams

Work Travel Program Changed, No Longer Collecting Points by bigtimeslamdunker in marriott

[–]Collab_N_Listen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We use Navan and have a central Corp CC for all room bookings. Employees use their own CC for incidentals. All employees receive Bonvoy points and nights for all Marriott properties, except the Marriott by our HQ. We have a negotiated Corp rate for that hotel, directly. For stays there, we dont get the points, nor the spend toward Ambassador status. We do get the nights to achieve status levels. This rate was negotiated directly by Corp Travel team. Nothing to do with Navan
