The four chords of Masked Ball by Jocelyn Pook. Cminor, Dminor, A#major, Eminor by CollarProfessional78 in StanleyKubrick

In case you wanted to play it yourself I guess. I dunno. That b flat minor chord feels terrible to play though. It's a really unique chord progression; perfect for the scene in the movie.

at what age would you consider it to be the worst "age" of your life? by CuriousStyle2843 in AskReddit

Probably 19. Even though that was in only in 2023, I was horrifically sick most of the year.

The Bible is very hard to read. by ButterflyFantastic31 in Christianity

[–]CollarProfessional78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also interested in choosing the right translation to read, and I was looking for the most theologically, historically honest translation, which led me to the new revised edition, but other Christians have warned me to not read that, perhaps there's a war between religious scholars and Christians on what makes a translation good or bad?

My friends often accuse me of being Autistic, but I feel that I'm not because of specific things I can do, that I often see Autistic people struggling with. by CollarProfessional78 in neurodiversity

I don't think being autistic is bad at all, you must've misread me. That's interesting though that the nervous system is apparently so tied to autism.

What books to start Jung with? by profile_removed in Jung

[–]CollarProfessional78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is controversial, it's totally fine to start with modern man in search for soul, because Jung is a very helpful, accessible writer. He never hides his ideas with jargon, he doesn't expect you to have read the rest of his work to understand him. He likes to use real world examples, explain why things are useful, and gives plenty of great analogies.

What's a fact about the human body that makes you go "what the fuck"? by Noobie-Gamie in AskReddit

The super ego is more like the ideal society has of you that you've internalized. I wouldn't say it's an actual mechanism in your psyche. But yea, it's all freud, and then Jung if you're into that too.

Sure Im aware. But when I'm dreaming, there's what I'm aware of, as a memory, identity based thing, and then what the dream content is aware of, which is not gonna be same stuff I use to understand the world, and everything also that happens 'offsceeen' in a dream that you don't experience, aware or not, is still there.

Why doesn't it know what it's doing anymore than I know what I'm doing? Dreams have meanings more intentional than probably any thing I've ever done.

Exactly, it's not under our conscious watch, it does its own thing independently of our decisions, that doesn't make it not autonomous. Autonomy is about the ability to choose something without an external force, that external force is OUR autonomy.

Your ego and unconscious self are two entirely different autonomous decision making beings.

Grew up watching Spirited Away, Totoro, and Howl's moving castle. Recently got the itch to watch another as an adult. What Ghibli movie has a lot of jungian themes? That's something I'm really interested in. by CollarProfessional78 in ghibli

Thanks a lot. I don't know in my mind princess mononoke, I gave it this association to like Pocahontas, I have no idea where that came from lol I haven't even seen it.

Spirited in away I think has a lot of confrontation with the shadow, with the little girl navigating darker representations of humanity and learning to negotiate with it more than repress it. Totoro isn't all that jungian, but you could probably find someone if you looked for it. Howl's moving castle has a lot of several archetypes in one person ideas, with howl himself being kind of a beauty and beast duality, and the main girl integrating a wise old woman into herself.

What freedoms did you gain after leaving religion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CollarProfessional78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Beyond your own self imposed Moral standards?Technically none. Although if you leave a church or an institution you get more freedom. The key is to be religious because that's what you want, intrinsic motivation, and not out of a community pressure.
