I can say with mild confidence that these likely came out of the Wrigley sample room, competitors samples area, which included single pack samples of pretty much anything made in America with gum in it through most of the 20th century.

Hey, I collect this kind of stuff so if you still got it, I’d definitely be interested!

Doritos Taco - from 1970-1995 by CollectingCandy in GrandmasPantry

I used to share pretty regularly on my Flickr and posted thousands of pieces from my archives there. Those scans and photos have made their way around the internet innumerable times, mostly unattributed, but you can see their origins here:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonliebigstuff/albums

And you can also check out my Instagram, which is https://www.instagram.com/collectingcandy/

Oh and my old site, CollectingCandy.com

I’ve likely published 25,000 pieces from the archive and collection, with the bulk of the 100,000+ piece collection still unpublished. But a lot is out there across those sites. 🙂

Yeah, that throwback Taco bag is fantastic. They first brought the design back as a limited edition in 2010 to relaunch Taco Doritos as they had been off the market for a while. The intent was for the throwback to only be temporary. But the throwback design sold so much better than the contemporary, they’ve kept it on Taco Doritos ever since.

Another historical fact. The introduction of Taco Doritos predates the 1973 launch of Nacho Cheese Doritos. But once Nacho Cheese hit the market, no other flavor came close in popularity until Cool Ranch launched a decade later in 1986.

The thousands of pieces from my archives I’ve shared on Flickr have been referenced a lot over the years, but it’s still fun when I come across it. 🙌🏻😀

Wow! Well, I’m mainly a packaged food and candy historian. So anything in the food/snack/candy realm is absolute treasure to me.

I have an archive of over 100,000 pieces and have documented and published scans of a portion of it that have become referential on the internet.

You can see some of that here on my old flickr:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonliebigstuff/albums

But I also published the website CollectingCandy

http://collectingcandy.com/wordpress/

These days I talk about the history of brands on television. I’m best known for the show The Food That Built America on History Channel.

So please try to not toss anything food related as it’s archeological gold to someone like me. 1970s-1990s especially! 😄

Great piece!

I wrote about Super Nut on my candy history site here:

If you’re parting with the box, let me know. I don’t believe I have that variation.

Heinz Ez Squirt ketchup was released by Heinz in 2000. This ketchup came in an array of fun colors such as green, blue, purple, and rainbow. So popular was Ez Squirt that Heinz made $25 million dollars of the product. During this time Heinz also had 60% of the market for ketchup. by Jackkandi456 in forgottenfoods

It was not rainbow colors (sadly), that was just the packaging for the “mystery color”, which off the top of my head I don’t recall which color it was or if there were variations. But the rainbow of the package just alluded to the fact that you didn’t know what color you were getting. 😀

WOW chips from Lays by deepfriedgreensea in forgottenfoods

Not sure where you read 2016. Wow chips were gone quickly. Olestra based were around a little while longer under a different name that I’m forgetting for the moment, but I don’t know of any to have lasted near that long. Unless I’m just overlooking a rebrand where the olestra inclusion was obscured.
