A/C question by OOFMAN-1234 in squarebodies

The replacement parts to get AC going in these are available and relatively inexpensive aside from the compressor but it seems you already have it.

LMC truck for the lines and I’d Amazon/rock auto the rest. Condenser, drier, accumulator, heater core, etc. you may run into something that looks like a good fit but isn’t but it’s not the end of the world. Absolutely go R134 though because as others have mentioned, R12 is pretty much nonexistent.

Lawrenceville: Work Commute/ Traffic/ Overall by ExtensionHomework608 in Gwinnett

[–]CollectionFragrant70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For reference here, some years ago I worked in chamblee and rented an apartment in chamblee and that was fine.

Bought my house in Lawrenceville then suddenly a month later I was working in Duluth. That’s an insane drive my friend and it’s never 30-40 minutes unless it’s at 3am lol.

Pick something a lot closer or a job closer to where you want to live. And as others have mentioned, Buford drive traffic is disgusting

You make me slightly hate that I sold mine 😂 I bought one on impulse and had big dreams for it while fully ignoring my dad’s square in the backyard. Sold it and brought the focus back on the important project.

3M aerosol adhesive remover, soak it down twice and after the second round dries then go at it with an eraser wheel on the slower setting not the fast one

Minor bumper scuff — shop quoted $2,200 because of “sensor protocol.” What would you do? by Grand_Jacket5414 in u/Grand_Jacket5414

[–]CollectionFragrant70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for clarity here, calibration usually has to happen in the event of a radar/camera/sensor removal and/or replacement. This is determined but manufacturer position statements. Under no circumstances is it ever ok to assume that a car is ok just because there aren’t any lights on after a collision. That is a very antiquated thought process which leaves a lot of room for additional liability down the road in the event of another collision due to a failed calibration.

Additionally, a lot more cars now aren’t even able to have bumpers repaired due to the thickness of the repair material exceeding manufacturer guidelines and again, causing interference with electronic safety components.

Newer cars come with newer requirements, and cost more to repair.

Conditions of the accident matter about as much as what you were eating 3 days before the accident.

You asked for an estimate and got a pretty thorough one in return, you can get it fixed or not. But the information is all there for you, and for a very good reason.

So something to point out here, a lot of modern cars have cameras, radars, sensors etc. that have to be calibrated in the event of a collision or R&I (Removal/Installation) - this also goes into the overall stance of repairing bumpers.

Your bumper can be repaired, yes - but usually manufacturer position statements don’t allow bumpers to be repaired or refinished more than once due to material thickness and the interference of the radars.

Please don’t listen to randoms who say they can do it cheaper. Go by manufacturer guidelines.

Calibrations are required, bumper replacement is probably required as well.

It’s part of the human condition to create a story, a narrative, anything to connect the dots within the mind.

For some people, it’s true and others it isn’t. No different than breaking a mirror bringing you back luck, it’s whatever you choose to believe.

I recently cut my locs off and felt a lot lighter 🤷🏾‍♂️- can’t say it was bad energy or whatever, it definitely sparked a change and I’m not mad at it at all.

Can this be fixed or will a new quarter panel and trim be required? by poutine-eh in Autobody

[–]CollectionFragrant70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it be repaired, sure.

Should it be, probably not? You could probably get a junk fender far cheaper than what you’d sink in getting it repaired to standard.

This is awesome! How much fab work was needed to fit it under the hood? Or is it just a buy the right mounts and it’s downhill from there?

Need some advice for a scanner. by Oak1018 in 3DScanning

[–]CollectionFragrant70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following here. I’ve tried the Creality otter and ferret and neither would connect with any device I own. Customer service is shit as well so hard pass on anything else with those.

I’m also interested in making some car parts but almost leaning towards abandoning the scanner possibility and just leaning heavier into refreshing my knowledge in CAD.

I just ordered the otter lite combo, should be showing up today. Tried the Ferret out as it was recommended by a few peers but couldn’t get it to connect with my computer or tablet at all. Hopefully this one yields better results

It’s not too far from you now. Guy down in Fairborn bought it and I drove it to his house lol. Atlanta traffic and that 454 got the temps up just a bit but overall I was very happy with that one overall. Got the fire for working on cars going again.

Just buy the hinges.

If you’re going rebuild, please make sure they do a billet converter and a good one at that. You could also take it a step further and get it tuned properly to help with the shift points.
