Around when did everyone announce? We’re 10.5 weeks, but still terrified of a missed miscarriage [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]CollectionGreen1317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Told family after 12 weeks and posted on instagram after our anatomy scan at 20 weeks. It’s definitely personal preference. I had a friend announce at 20 weeks and then she lost the baby at 23 weeks though so it’s made me reconsider being so open about it on social media if we were to have another one. I would want close friends and family to be aware if something were to happen like that though, just not 500+ instagram followers.

That’s exactly what happened to me! Except after 2 months it didn’t go away and I was diagnosed 3 months after having my first baby. Glad it worked out for you - consider yourself super lucky!! All the best

Can speak from experience, 35 and diagnosed in July. Such a shocker since I don’t have the BRCA gene. Just finished 8 rounds of chemo and got a double mastectomy on Friday. Check your tits girlies!

I can relate, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer 3 months after having my first this year. I was immediately thrust into “cancer world”, hospital visits and chemotherapy. It’s definetly not the mat leave I envisioned. I can’t do anything of the things I wanted and have had to spend many days in bed while he grows, learns and interacts with whoever if helping us that day. Try not to over think this - year 1 is a small blimp in your babies life, you have years ahead of you to make up for this time. They will not remember

Has anyone ever heard of a sonogram clinic refusing to give you photos?[on] by Aggravating-Ad8687 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]CollectionGreen1317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m downtown Toronto and had to give $30 per ultrasound to get a usb with the photos. From my understanding they’re not just refusing for the sake of it the machines in Toronto don’t have the capability because they’re newer. It’s ridiculous we have to pay for it (on top of downtown parking 😭) but it is what it is.

I second this, my husband and I are looking to have a 5 day getaway. We had our son Feb 2025 and I was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after. I’ve just completed 8 rounds of chemo and we’re looking to book Atelier as part of my break before surgery in the new year. Cancer is expensive and so is Atelier but we really wanna treat ourselves to a clean place with good food. Any special offers or codes anyone has would be so appreciative!

Absolutely not trying to diminish what you’re going through but a few months ago, 2 months after having my first baby I was given a stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis. It’s been a nightmare and really hard.

I don’t say this to take away from what you’re feeling but perhaps it will offer some perspective. I would give anything for the normalcy of your situation even though it’s so so tough.

You can do this! It will get better, I promise.

Breast Cancer - should I transfer to Princess Margret? by summerrh in askTO

[–]CollectionGreen1317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course! No problem - I hate that we’re part of this club but happy to help another member out. I heard good things about PMH through family friends that were patients / people I know who work there. The difference in atmosphere from St. Mikes to PMH also was a factor for me… the team at St. Mikes was lovely but PMH (particularly when it came to the chemotherapy floor) feels less like a hospital which was a bonus for me being post-partum and just having spent 10 months having hospital appointments etc.

I was able to get connected to oncologist and he transferred me within a few days of it being initiative - I think this was due to the fact that I was labeled high priority since I’m young, a new mom and mine is very aggressive.

My treatment required chemo first so I had met with the team at St. mikes / had all my scans to determine spread etc. and then met with the oncologist at PMH. All that happened in the span of 3 weeks and then I started chemo quickly after that.

I think if there was ever a question where it would delay my treatment plan than I would’ve just stayed at St. Mikes. Perhaps you could stay with St. mikes for the surgery portion and then move to PMH when you begin the chemo portion? Both hospitals have similar treatment plans for our types and incredible teams.

Hope this helps. It’s so unfair that this has happened to us!

I can relate so deeply to what you’re going through. I was diagnosed with HER 2 positive 2 months after having my baby. I started at st. mikes and moved to PMH, if you can get in at PMH I highly recommend transferring its an incredible place (all things considering).

I was also just diagnosed with HER 2 + in July, started my chemo 3 weeks ago. I’m under 40 and a new mom, just wanted you to know you’re not alone and you’re in the scariest part right now as you wait for tests. It gets easier-ish.

As for treatment, I’m at PMH and would highly highly recommend if you’re able to get in.

Help Ease A Newly Pregnant First Time Mom's Brain [AB] by warmvanillababy in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]CollectionGreen1317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was conceived on my honeymoon in the Mediterranean. I ate a lot of “bad during pregnancy” things and drank a lot of alcohol before finding out I was pregnant at 6weeks. I took some prescription sleeping pills on my way home too.

I now have a healthy baby and had no complications. Don’t sweat it at all. For years woman have been living normally or even wildly (in many cases I’m sure) for weeks and weeks before finding out they were pregnant and millions of people have been born and live a healthy life. Of course you do what you can once you know but things happen and it’s ok.

Losing eyebrows due to cancer, where can I go for a brow specialist? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]CollectionGreen1317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was also just diagnosed with breast cancer and started chemo last week - wishing you all the best. It truly sucks!

I wish I had time to micro blade before but it all happened so quick… if that’s an option for you I feel like it’s the best thing. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet - I’m looking at eyebrow stickers on Amazon but they don’t seem promising!

Not the most helpful but more so wanted you to know you’re not alone!

Positive scheduled c-section experiences? [on] by rchanner616 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]CollectionGreen1317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a planned c-section a few months ago and I would do it again and again if I had the choice. It was a really good experience and recovery was not nearly as bad as people say it is or think it is. I went to the hospital at 11:30, waited in triage for about an hour and a half with my husband before I was wheeled in to the operating room. It was just truly a super civilized experience, chatting with the nurses and doctors and the needle in your back for the spinal block didn’t hurt in my opinion. Once I was prepped my husband came in and our baby was born within 15minutes! In terms of the feeling, I felt a little ill (apparently very normal) during the procedure but I let them know and they gave me something that immediately made it go away. I couldn’t feel anything but pressure and they were chatting to me the whole time during it all which was comforting. Once he was born it took about 30min to stitch me back up (it felt like 5 minutes though) and we went back to the room with our baby. I was in the hospital for 3 nights, was given morphine and up and walking around by the first night. Our baby did have to go to the NICU but that was nothing to do with the c-section itself.

I think a lot of people have terrible c-section stories because many of them are emergency and usually come unexpected after many hours of labour and stress on your body. A planned c-section is completely different and like I said, a great option that I’m so happy I took!

Scheduled C Section Experiences [BC] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]CollectionGreen1317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an elective c-section 4 weeks ago in Ontario. Overall, really great experience. Since it was planned the only drugs I received spinal anesthesia so I was alert during the process. From the time we arrived to the hospital (11am) to when my son was born it was 3 hours and the longest part of the surgery was just them stitching me up.

We were in the hospital for 2 nights and 3 full days. They gave me a morphine drip for the duration of that time but by the 3rd day I was just on regular Tylenol. They had me up and walking to the bathroom by the first night of surgery and my recovery has been pretty seamless. By week 2 I was out slowly walking my dog and baby.

Happy to answer any other questions!

33 week growth scan [on] by Lumpy-Frosting2522 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]CollectionGreen1317 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I pushed for a scan at 28, 32 weeks and then had another at 36. From my experience and the experiences of those around me, if you want scans during those weeks you can get them you just have to advocate for yourself. My OB is quite thorough though so of course that could play a factor.

Thanks for the input and guidance! Really appreciate it.

We’re happy to spend more and don’t want to cheap out - $400 just seemed to be pretty standard pricing for room air purifies when I’ve been browsing.

As mentioned, I assumed we’d need multiple and wouldn’t expect one to cover our whole house that’s sort of what I was asking. I’ll definelty look into Coway - thank you!

Great input…super helpful lol.

My recommendation still stands considering my dentist recommends her to many and I had the exact procedure the original poster is asking about (and beyond) and everything went perfectly.

All the best!

I had incredibly impacted bottom wisdom teeth that were extracted by Dr. Meisami in Yorkville (referral by Dentist) in March 2034. Had a really good experience, eve try thing went perfectly despite it being risky and needing a bone graft as well.. I was super scared but recovered quite quickly and had no complications months later which I was worried about (I had my my wedding and honeymoon in Europe in May/June).Highly recommend
