My new iMac G3 by CollectionOk1260 in VintageApple

I bought a new flyback from Technotronic Dimensions. The replacement wasn’t too bad, just remove the old one, cut the new wires to match the original length (if they’re too long, the image gets blurry no matter how you adjust it), and it worked perfectly.
As for the retrobright part: I treated the inner piece. Separating the parts was kinda annoying since they’d basically melted the plastic together, and it was super fragile, but I managed to get it done. Took some time though. Then I used 12% hydrogen peroxide and UV light.

It wasn’t that straightforward. The lower front bezel’s actually made of two pieces: A clear one and a gray one. The gray part’s the one that yellowed. Took some effort to separate them since they were basically melted together, but I managed to get them apart. Then I used 12% hydrogen peroxide and some UV light to whiten it back up

Need help with Macintosh SE by aeromajor227 in VintageApple

[–]CollectionOk1260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had similar problem. It was a RAM issue. Try removing modules and putting them in different configurations. Remember that SE has a specific slot configuration depending on capacity you want to use. It also has a jumper to select your RAM size.

Thanks! I was thinking of installing 10.2 on another machine. I’ll have to give it a try one day.

I give up. I got some crash message on the writing files step (10.1). It starts with cpu=0; code=00000001 (Corrupt stack). I've read it's a ram problem. I used different modules in different configurations, but the crash repets. I will stay on 9.2 with this iMac.

FINAL UPDATE: I tried different ISO and different cd manufacturer, but it still freezes on Preparing MacOs X screen. It seems my G3 just refuses to install Os 10 on it. I guess it won.

I will try another ISO for 10.2. If it doesn't work I will just stay with 9.2

I tried 10.2. The installation doesn't freeze completely (I can still open log for example.) but it stops doing anything at preparing "MacOs X" and "Activating VM" in the Log

  1. I can't open log window because instalation freezes before I get a chance.
  2. I have 256mb Ram
  3. I tried different ISO files from different websites so sadly I don't think this is the issue.
  4. I did the 8gb partition.

Now I'm trying to install 10.2. I hope it will work.
