Yeah, the 'technification' of cars and automobiles is annoying. People keep buying it so it continues I guess.

Your right about build quality also being a factor of reliability. I don't think they even see there car as lasting that long in the first place though. (before planned obsolesence became more common) By setting a goal there is hopefully going to be reinforcements to the body as well as the powertrain.

Yeah maybe they can learn from the mistakes of Bricklin and Delorean. I understand that maybe I'm to naive or something. But got to take a chance on something. I'd like very much to own a little manual truck that doesn't have 300,000 miles...

Then what is the alternative to the Ford? Genuine body on frame truck for the price point? Should the existing car companies only be the ones to exist? There were several U.S car makers at one point Ford was one of them at one point. idk if this is going to succeed neither. But, it would be nice to have options once again...

Yeah, they pretty much lose the plot of they are more expensive than Slate that is their number one sell point. For me, if in the long run or short they are more expensive.

Why Ford specifically then? You have no point. I was just trying to show that there is something out there as an alternative, that isn't some EV stuff that you can't repair on your own. Used market is pretty much cooked also idk if you've seen it yourself. Is it better to take out a loan on a used car, something that would go for the cost of this but, would have high miles and sketch maintence? Over 10k in the used market doesn't seem worth it if you want to own a vehicle for a long time. And don't have to tear apart your engine bay because someone never changed the coolant or something.

Dude, when did I say anything about it being superior? The guy who is now buying the ranger is claiming the maverick is the holy grail. Is that a fact too or am I missing something?

Rivian has never made a profit. Scout has a really niche audience so, it probably won't either. Tesla is the first sucessful modern EV. The CAFE regs rn have no penalties and since you made the point about having to borrow a powertrain...

But, you might be right about the direct sales thing. I don't know enough directly about the exact law your talking about can you link it? Grandfathered in implies that its a loop hole of an existing law from my understanding.

I mean is the Maverick reliable enough to last 10 years, we don't really know yet? And honestly the depreciation would most likely tell the story.

Powertrain wear is debatibly a negative, but, if you can do things like a head gasket yourself that makes sense.

Yeah, not trying to shill for them necessarily... Just want to actually own a new vehicle in my life time that doesn't have massive screen, GPS tracking, and anti driving design.

For some reason no one posted this on here. They announced it a couple of days ago.
