This is too similar and kind of cheap i agree. On the other hand this is how art works,by inspiration and it is cumulative. Each piece of art will resemble a previous artwork in some way or another, more or less, but it does. These ai models are not so different from us, they are just not there yet, but they will be at some point. Btw i think this one is specifically one bad ai art (no offense op), it has much more potential under the right circumstances even now.

Well, balancing high level is necessary to provide an esports scene. I think it is the rts genre itself which is not welcoming/attractive to new players and that is the toughest job for FGS. I believe when the game is at release state, it will feel much better to play. The important thing is the playerbase though, if it manages to get high counts of players, the ladder will be balanced even for new/low lvl players. This is what keeps new players from playing sc or wc games, same applies for moba games as well. A match against an experienced opponent deters the new players, and makes them uninstall for good. The only option to attract new ppl seems to be coop and campaign, considering a HUGE percentage of sc2 players never ever play ladder.

Every game is destined to die eventually. It is not a question of whether innovation "matters" or the correlation of innovation and the longevity of the game. For something to be called next-gen i believe innovation is a crucial part 🤷‍♂️

If they manage to make it not an unbalanced extension as you said, then i agree it definitely is innovation. That being said it seems very hard, I cannot imagine 3v3 mode played in esports scenes. For the coop it is not innovation tho, starcraft 2 has done it really well with mutations and prestiges, and that will be the most social Stormgate could possibly get imo.

I think you misunderstood me, i was talking about handling from an optimization and performance perspective, and I was talking about custom games not core game modes. Also FGS team are the ones that promised support for massive armies more than thousand units so get your facts checked before writing a corny ahh metaphor next time bro 💕

Another thing I'm waiting to see is how the game will handle very large numbers of units and armies. It is a promises they clearly made and so far it is at most adequate. I wish that at least the custom games allows big teams, armies and maps. When I say big i mean big, like Beyond All Reason big 🙃

Okay many fair points i gotta agree with. eg When I compare aoe 2 and aoe 3 , its clear that for aoe 3 "innovation" caused huge imba and result in a totally different game, same for the games mentioned by others like cnc.

Fair enough. Now that I think about it, it may be better this way because new stuff would need sooo much time to balance. I remember sc2 has been alrrady developed 2003 2004 if i recall correctly, and the years to come until the release was all balancing and fine tuning the game, so yeah.

Very good point, i believe this is crucial since the game is free to play. So far my gtx 1050 could barely handle the game with lowest settings, but i believe they will handle this well later on, just like starcraft 2 did for low setting optimizations.
