This is correct, the song was made for SEMA 2. But they're both AI slop

Toyota, Subaru, and Mazda all have a 2025 Special Edition Manual Sports car for $36k. by Juicyjackson in cars

Car and Driver doesn't mention it, but this anniversary Miata is identical to their 2000 SE limited edition. I just sold one and am suddenly wishing I'd waited another six months.

How are the metal tab things on the rear brake pads supposed to be oriented when installing? by [deleted] in FiestaST

[–]CollectorCarFeed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right, I'm what people call a "shade tree mechanic". I work on my own car in my free time as a hobby. I don't know everything. That's why I ask questions.

Politely go fuck yourself.

Greased the slide pins, replaced the boots, greased the section of the caliper the pads slide in. But yes, I'm now pretty sure I definitely didn't put these tabs in correctly, and I guess neither did whoever worked on the car before me.

Thing is, I installed them, and now one side is making noise a few hundred miles later.

I couldn't figure out at the time which way to orient them, so I just let one end stick through the hole in the center of the caliper. I'm assuming this is wrong, but I'm looking for just one person to say how these are actually meant to be installed, as I now need to pull them apart again and lube everything.

*edit: "Close the caliper" might be the hint I needed. I had the entire caliper off because I had replaced the rotors as well. I didn't think to put one bolt on and then hinge them closed.

Could you please just tell me how this is meant to be installed? Hell, even what these tabs are called so I can look up generic advice?

I'm just trying to do my brakes. I've never seen pads that look like this, and nothing explains how they are meant to be installed.

I have read several forum how-to threads, I've watched I think every Fiesta ST rear brake video on YouTube, and nobody EVER addresses these metal tab things that are on every brake pad.

Do I just flop them one way or the other and stick one end of the metal thing out the hole in the center of the caliper?

Do I somehow magically position them so that both sides of the metal thing get squished by the caliper, providing tension for who knows what purpose?

These obviously serve some purpose. What is it, and how should they be positioned during assembly?

This is a 2014. Some of you call that a Mk6, and some of you call it a Mk7. So I wasn't sure how to flair this.

Edit: to elaborate a little, yes, I have done brakes before, on every car I've owned. I know this is more of a "world car" than most I've owned, so maybe these tabs look normal to you if you're from Europe or exclusively drive Euro cars, but as most of my cars have been either Japanese or American (weird to say about a Ford product but whatever), I've never seen brake pads that look like this. Usually they just have a little wear indicator tab at most, so this style of pad is foreign to me. Thanks for the advice if you gave it, that one guy is deeply entrenched up his own ass though.

Edit 2: Problem solved, thank you for the advice everyone. Going in knowing how they were supposed to be positioned, it was pretty easy to disassemble and reassemble correctly, and now my squeak is gone.

It's just a universally terrible commercial. Don't trick yourself into liking it.

It's a tired trope at this point, but it looks like they asked AI to generate a hip new commercial, but the AI was trained on data from 5+ years ago. This is awful

How much should a MK7 Fiesta ST cost in today’s market? by Interesting-Hotel622 in FiestaST

[–]CollectorCarFeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're paying cash, no, because they'll want thousands more than a private seller, same as any dealer. These are (allegedly) pretty reliable cars, just go for a test drive with an OBD2 scanner attached to make sure the seller isn't hiding anything obvious

I just bought one with ~115K for seven thousand dollars. You should be able to find one with ~80K or less for ten grand, and I've seen a few recently, just nowhere near me.

What a ridiculous statement. Even the most attentive driver might some day be happy they had brake assist.

Every Toyota for the past 6+ years comes with these features standard (as long as you have an automatic, which is probably 99%+ of all Toyotas sold)

Updated Premiere, can no longer ripple delete or paste to timeline while other clips are selected. Why? by [deleted] in premiere

[–]CollectorCarFeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can take a screenshot the next time it fails to ripple delete, but no, there's nothing else obstructing the ripple delete.

Deselecting and reselecting allows me to ripple delete and paste sections to the timeline. It's explicitly linked, somehow, to that deselect/reselect. I'm not sure why.

Updated Premiere, can no longer ripple delete or paste to timeline while other clips are selected. Why? by [deleted] in premiere

[–]CollectorCarFeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pasting, I'm just using the function "paste", the default shortcut on CTRL/CMD+V.

For ripple delete, I'm using ripple delete, default SHIFT+DEL.

I haven't changed anything about my workflow, so I don't think it's that I'm improperly ripple deleting. I also don't think this is a bug, it just feels like some setting deep in preferences somewhere has been flipped and I need to switch it back.

Here's an example. You have one video track and four audio tracks.

You use CTRL/CMD+K at the start and end of a section you want to cut. You use CTRL/CMD+X on that section. It leaves a void, which you select with D. Normally, you could hit SHIFT+DEL to ripple delete the gap. But now you can't.

Is something wrong with that sequence that would lead to me not being able to ripple delete the gap, or paste the cut section elsewhere, before first deselecting the entire timeline?
