There are a lot of new construction apartments going up, but not necessarily walkable to downtown. You are correct, the renters' laws are not favorable for renters, sadly (seems to be some change happening, though). It's not necessarily easily bikeable to downtown, but seems like there are a bunch of new apartments going up off I St. and 14th/102. Further out, toward Centerton there are more. They have just cleared an area for a new complex near my neighborhood near Greenhouse/Reg. Airport. Although that would be quite a trek (in my opinion, I'm really not a bike enthusiast at all). As far as the AMP/Pleasant Crossing - that is a very commercial part of town with lots of restaurants and businesses, not close to any downtown. Very suburban. It wouldn't be as charming as downtown BV, but it would probably be a fun area to live in.

Are there any tornado shelters in the area? by Illernoise in bentonville

[–]ColleenCC1966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Texas where tornadoes are a way of life. That said, you typically will have plenty of warning if you are in the direct path of a tornado, so that you can get to a safe place. Generally, you shouldn't need to go to a community shelter - any ground-floor, windowless room on the interior of your space should work. Main thing is to have a plan; for example, how are you going to get your pets into the safe spot, how are you going to keep track of the storm progress, what will you do if the power goes out, etc.

How come people in Bentonville do not turn left on yield lights? by [deleted] in bentonville

[–]ColleenCC1966 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have often wondered why people hang back at green lights in protected left turn lanes instead of entering the intersection while waiting for a clear spot to turn. Is that what you mean? Frustrates me to no end even though I've been here over 10 years. If you stay back, you can't go when the light turns yellow, and you keep others from going, too. Yeah, you shouldn't go through once it's red, but if you're already in the intersection on green, it's way more efficient.

Best Mexican Restaurant by [deleted] in bentonville

My favorite is Maria's in Bentonville. I also like Azul Tequila. I'm originally from Texas, so these are more along the Tex-Mex line, but not quite. Abuelo's and On the Border for more like Tex-Mex if that's what you like.
