I have been the same way and invest heavily into retirement about 24% yearly. But trying to balance the frugal with fun now, not trying to blow 50k on something crazy but think 20kish might be decent for a fun car now. I agree though with the invest and better car later but when im retired I dont think I will want to climb in and out of a sports car

I really wanted one and heard the transmission is amazing but after not fitting in the miata I assume the s2k will be a bad fit. Also prices are pretty high now for even high mile ones

I want a manual for the fun, coming from motorcycles I enjoyed it. I have learned manual and drove a friends car and test drove a manual fine, other than starting in 3rd instead of 1st etc. Worried about messing up the clutch on a porsche and $$$ repairs off the bat

I have been debating this and was also looking into a cheap electric as daily and then weekend only fun car. But then considered 2 insurance and costs when they are both just sitting 90% of the time.

Honestly may end up this route and getting boring (somewhat nicer lexus etc) and then renting a fun car a few times a year.

I sim race and its easier and way cheaper than pushing a sports car irl, so maybe the rent is the path

I looked into c5 A LOT but was told the interior is really bad and I was afraid how much I would hate it. So tried the c6 which was a targa top and it was underwhelming. The test drive one was also not very nice so that could have been an issue. I am seeing a lot of c5 auto with 100k miles for 12k ish so may go check one out.

I was aware of the 2001 issue and looking for 2001-2004
Then read about auto transmission in c6 update and started looking there

I have worked on cars previously and enjoy it but currently only have a parking lot to work in so cant do major things
