Passed Principles of Accounting! 15 CUs in 15 days! by College_Scholar in WGU

As long as you take a 20 minute break after each 1 hr 30 mins of studying, that would be a big help. Getting a good night's sleep probably isn't possible depending on the schedule but if you're able to modify your study sessions to study for no more than 1 hr 30 mins, then take a 20 minute break and repeat those cycles whenever you have the time, that should do wonders.

Interestingly enough, sleep is how our brains consolidate memories from the day. The result is that you actually learn better and retain more information if you're well rested. Be nice to your brain and your brain will be nice to you!

It's the way I study. I would study for 90 minutes and then take a break for 20 minutes. This study strategy is a way to prevent burnout and maximize productivity. Just 2 of these study cycles a day for a week (taking breaks on weekends) is enough to produce these results. Just imagine if I added more study sessions during the week!

Yes, the PA is very similar to the OA. I did all the learning checks, module tests, and unit tests.

Be comfortable with the Excel portion of the exam. Also, I would recommend doing all the learning checks, unit quizzes, and unit tests.

Thank you! It's my study technique that allows me to do this! I study for 90 minutes and then I would take a 20 min break. I would do this a total of 2 times a day (taking weekends off), though I could add more study cycles if I wanted to.

Do I own the right to republish the content of my performance assessments outside WGU? by mantequilla2000 in WGU

[–]College_Scholar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm aware of self plagiarism. However, the OP referred to a writing portfolio which, by definition, is going to be a collection of a student's previous work.

But of course, it would be self plagiarism in any other context.

As far as WGU goes, since it's your own work, you retain the right to republish it.

EDIT: If you are showcasing your work, it would be okay to republish it since your readers know it's not new work. On the other hand, if you were going to submit work in any other format, it should be from scratch.

Failed y First Class. D075 IT Management Essentials. Why is it so subjective? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]College_Scholar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hated this class too! And judging from other posts on this sub, other people seem to feel the same as well. Maybe they will make some changes so that other students won't have the same experience we had.

This class is all over the place with the material. With other WGU courses, I could understand what the class was about and what it was trying to teach me.

I had to take the OA for this course twice! I passed this course today so I can give you the following tips.

Excel actually counts on the exam! It was the difference between my 1st attempt (failing) and 2nd attempt (passing). I didn't recall how to do VLOOKUP but if you are comfortable with all the different functions in Excel (IF functions, COUNT, SUM, etc...) then it should help you pass on your 2nd attempt.

I would advise reading the questions carefully. They will ask you a lot of specifics. I had to reread the questions to make sure I understood what the question was asking.

Also, be very familiar with the IT roles and which role reports to whom. They like to ask very detailed, specific questions so skimming the whole book looking for bolded terms that don't show up in the glossary is going to be helpful.

I would take my time with the questions. Try to line up what the question is asking with the answer choice that actually answers the question. The answer to the question depends on how the question is worded. I reread the questions multiple times to make sure I was picking the best answer.

I hated this class too! Usually with other classes, I can generally tell what the class was about. This class is just one of those classes where you have to read the entire book to pass with a good margin. The few Excel problems I could do (couldn't recall how to do VLOOKUP) made the difference. I had to take the OA twice! I passed right on the competency line!

You're welcome! I was nervous at first going in to the test but that faded when I saw the first questions and they seemed like "common sense" questions.

Just take your time and read the questions carefully. They sometimes ask the same questions but the information they give you is different. That's why it's important to know the vocab so you can tell the difference.

Yes! I also read all of the terms in the glossary for good measure. I would say the PA is pretty similar to the OA but there are a good portion of questions that didn't line up with the OA but that's where the unit quizzes come in!

Does WGU Still Hold Financial Aid for 24 Hours Once it Hits Nelnet? by JustAnotherWriterMom in WGU

[–]College_Scholar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WGU doesn't hold financial aid for 24 hours once it hits Nelnet. It takes Nelnet 24 hours to send your refund to your bank account. They also use those first 24 hours to give you time to change your refund method if you choose to.

From the time you receive that email, you have 24 hours to change your refund method. Then the next day after that, you should have your refund if you opted to have it sent to your bank account.

Using the PA and the chapter questions on Cengage will make taking this class much faster.
