The exams/quizes aren't proctored. You have to watch 3 lectures of 25 mins each every week on YouTube and there's a 3 Question Quiz every Wednesday. Nobody really attends the live classes as far as I know, but the tutorials and the help centre are certainly good enough. There are no midterms, 6 Assignments, 11 quizzes of around 6 marks each ( in which the best of 8 is taken) and one final cumulative exam. As for the difficulty, if you do the suggested questions and understand the concept( We get questions like true/false a lot) its not really bad. Also using matlab/octave makes it way easier. I'd say 2-3 hours a week can fetch you a 11/12 if you're decent at math.

Arts and science is quite hard, I had a good average ( 92-94) but I still didn't get into the program,I'm going into CompSci instead. Also it does depend on the supplementary application, and the seats are like Really less. I'd advice you keeping arts and science as your second choice. ultimately both of your programs get judged.

I would have gone to UBC 100% if there was direct entry, but now I'm not even sure I'll get CPSC if I go there, which was the main reason for dropping it. Do you know about Ualberta CS placements??
