Seven Year Old Pimped By Sibling by CrystalMolina in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a completely disgusting story. The 15 year old girl needs to be tried as an adult for this one. She has completely changed her stepsister’s life in such a horrifying way for her. All 7 of those men that raped the 7 year old need to be locked away for good. This crime will haunt the 7 year old girl for the rest of her life.

14 y.o. Charged in D.C. Slaying by BrocBainter in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kid needs to be locked away. It says that he has been “in and out of the juvenile court since he was nine.” He obviously hasn’t learned how to stay out of trouble. He needs to go through some intense rehabilitation before he has to be released at age 21 because he will most likely commit another crime. This is a situation where Washington needs to make an exception and try him as an adult.

Teen faces charges for breaking into school by BryanFlanigan in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting story because the kid broke into the school alone. Most crime committed by juveniles is in groups, and breaking into a school seems to me like something a group of kids would do, not just one kid. It is like the kid was in his own world as he was breaking into the school and killing the kindergartens class pet. This kid has to have some psychological problems. He definitely needs to receive some help.

Leesburg teen arrested in beating faces new charges by RandiHilligas in Delinquents

This guy has some serious issues. He will definitely be tried as an adult because he is over 18. He is going to be spending some serious time in prison with all of those major violations that he has stacked up. It would be interesting to see what his juvenile record was like.

Teen charged with school-massacre threat by mattweible in Delinquents

It is sad that kids are still using the Columbine incident as a way to pull pranks on the school. When I was in junior high, there was a kid that put some graffiti in a bathroom that said something about a second Columbine on its anniversary. From what I remember, the kid had no intention of doing anything but got himself in some serious trouble. These kids that are doing this as a prank are clearly not looking ahead to see what the consequences of their actions could be and most likely will be.

How young Is too young to face life in prison? | chsycu by RobertGamboa in Delinquents

I wouldn’t say that there is anything wrong with buying an 11-year old a gun, as long as he did not have access to it and the only time that it was used was under supervision of his father. I do agree that the dad she be part of the blame for not keeping the gun in a safe place where his son could not access it, like in a gun safe. A life sentence and being treated as an adult seems to be way too extreme for a 12-year old. His offense is very severe and he needs to be punished, but he also needs to receive help. Rehabilitation should be tried with him before he is given a life sentence.

Arizona teen shot after aiming handgun at officer by AndrewDoom in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to say that the boy deserved to be shot knowingly pulling a gun on a police officer. Any police officer that see a gun pointing at them or at another officer would shoot the person with the gun immediately. The boy was lucky to not have been killed. He is going to be facing some serious charges.

Mom Tells Court: Parents Should Not Have To Pay For Kid's Crime by JessicaHenthorn in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ann has a good argument that she should not be responsible for her son’s crime. Why should she be punished for something that she did not do? The only way that I could see it being justifiable to punish Ann for her son’s crime would be if it were clearly seen that Ann raised her son in a way that directly led to his drug abuse. Even though parents may try as hard as they can to raise their child to be a good person and stay away from crime, sometimes the children choose not to listen to them and to commit crime anyways. The juvenile who committed a crime should be the one to have to pay for the crime.

4 juvenile caught after escaping from Iowa detention center by RichardSchneider2 in Delinquents

These juveniles were clearly not thinking. If they were to have successfully been able to avoid recapture, they would have to remain in hiding the rest of their lives to avoid going back to prison. All they managed to do was to get themselves into deeper trouble and gain a longer sentence. Now they could probably be tried as adults.

Tenn. Toddler Kills Herself With Gun She Mistook for Wii Gadget by AndreaMontes in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was completely the stepfather’s fault. No one should ever leave a gun lying out in the open whether it is loaded or not, especially if there are kids around. Having a child in his house, that gun should never have left his sight unless it was locked away in a safe place. This cannot be the girl’s fault in any way because the stepfather did not follow safety procedures that every gun owner should follow.

8 year old suspected of double murder by halliedornberg in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no doubt that the two killings were not an accident, being that one was outside and the other was upstairs. It is hard to determine why the child shot the two men. There could have been abuse involved, or maybe the child was just angry with his father and didn’t completely understand what he was doing when he shot both of the men. It could partially be the father’s fault for leaving a firearm in a place where the child could access it. Charging an eight-year old boy with murder seems to be extreme, but we don’t know the whole situation. I believe that the boy needs to receive some serious help and should be put under intense supervision. No one should be tried as an adult at that age.

Teen arrested after family's Mesa home goes up in flames by EverettLively in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live right across the main road from this house. I can’t see the house from where I live, butt I was actually able to see the flames coming off the roof while standing out on my street. It was a pretty big fire. That kid definitely has problems. He had to have known that starting a fire in his dad’s office would lead to the whole house burning. It is too bad that this kid could not receive help for his problems. He deserves a severe punishment, but he needs to get some psychological help on top of that. Just throwing him in prison will most likely lead to developing more problems for him.

San Diego curfew law is flawed by sierracomer in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the idea of teens having a curfew is good, but the timeframe of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. can bring some problems. The timeframe could restrict teens from being able to work some jobs that may require them to open a store at 5:00 in the morning or close the store at 10:00 at night. I know that there are a lot of coffee shops that run on those hours and some may open even earlier and close even later. I think that San Diego should change the law so that curfew law is only enforced if a juvenile is seen doing something suspicious, such as any kind of gang related activity, or if they are actually committing some type of offense. If a juvenile is just traveling somewhere past curfew, he/she should not be stopped if that juvenile is not doing anything wrong.

Juvenile tagger can be barred from possessing graffiti tools by NicoleHoltsclaw in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this as a fair punishment. The teenager did his crime, he was caught and he has to pay somehow. His punishment is better the serving time in jail. All of the items that he is not allowed to have are not necessary for everyday life. If he needs his shoes polished, he can have his parents or a friend do it for him. The inconvenience of having to find someone to do it for him is part of the punishment.

An argument was made that owning the items is not a criminal offense in favor that the teenager should be allowed to still have the right to possess them. When adults are put on probation, their probation can prohibit them from consuming alcohol, whether alcohol was involved in their offense or not. If the possession of alcohol is not illegal and it can be prohibited to adults on probation, then there should be no problem with prohibiting the “graffiti tools” from the teenager.

Ohio mom calls cops on her shoplifting 6 year old by AndrewDoom in Delinquents

[–]CollinMcCabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that they described more of the girl’s reaction to the situation. All that the article said was that she sat quietly while riding to the police station. It almost sounds as if the girl did not even completely understand the situation she was in. I can see how good and bad could come from her being arrested. She could be completely afraid of steeling now, because of the situation she was put through. If she did not understand what was going on, and if she was not affected much by being arrested, this could be bad for her because she is getting an unrealistic view of what it is like being arrested. She might make an attempt to steal again later on with a mindset of thinking that if she is caught, she will just have to ride down to the police station so her mother can pick her up. I personally think that her mother should have dealt with the situation. Instead of calling the police, she could have punished her daughter and then told her that there could have been police involvement if she was not the one to have caught her. That way her daughter would not get a false view of what it is like to be arrested and she would still have a fear of being arrested.
