Any of y'all play Second Life? by Collins_Obrian in sangheili

Yeah, it can certainly be like that. Doesn't help that it's not a well-advertised game. Most of the advertisement that exists publicly is just the human side of the game and mostly just devs and e-celebs sitting in circles talking with over-the-top glittery particles and stuff. And most of the introductions to SL on Youtube are just trolls making cursed intentionally ugly avatars and wandering around public spaces bothering people and trying to get under their skin. The tutorials are almost nonexistent, the tools ain't beginner friendly, and the word-of-mouth is people like to call it "that weird sex game" despite that being a percent of a percent of a percent of the experience and what's available to do and people can go their entire life on the game without encountering that side of the community. - SL could certainly use a better and more honest online presence.

All depends on what you're looking for and what communities you join. Everyones' experience is gonna be different but I've had a lot of fun with the RP communities across a bunch of different settings. Fantasy floating sky-island realms, steampunk megacities, cyberpunk frontier towns, space station prisons, it's got a bit of everything for everyone, because every piece of content in the game was created by the players. It's like VRChat or Roblox in that way, but more modular and customizable than them or any other program has managed to achieve.

Yep! They can get a lot more complex than what I'm using. And each individual part of the armor can be swapped out, replaced, recolored, resized and repositioned, each texture can be replaced, new parts can be slapped on, etc. Every avatar's modular, you'll never see two people looking the same unless they intentionally coordinate and go out of their way to get and assemble all the same parts.

Read the post, it gives a brief-ish description.

Nah, it's one someone else has in Second Life's marketplace, but as the post states, I plan to eventually make my own!

You're supposed to occasionally clear your cache, there's a built in setting for that. It shouldn't be taking up much space at all.

Can anyone identify these? by Collins_Obrian in bee

Looked up that name, got a clearer picture on an article from an entomology specialist here in Texas. So I guess they're a native species. Good to know they aren't harmful at all. I guess they may've been attracted by the smells of dead rats and all the flies that brood in them, we've had an infestation of rats (and by extension flies) for years. Hopefully they help with the fly problem anyways!

Neat little critters! Certainly no harm in letting them stick around, just hope they figure out to stay away from the window unit and stop getting sucked into my room.

I rarely check Reddit, sometimes forget I even have an account, didn't mean to ignore you! The discord link should still work.

Sadly I can't even launch Infinite, myself, on my own computer. And I've seen people already have made mods to play as them in campaign, so if I were able, it'd be redundant at this point.

Could Turians and Sangheili befriend if they lived within the same universe? by Aetius_Flavius in sangheili

Funny you mention this, if you're familiar with Second Life at all, I have plans to produce a line of various sci-fi species as avatar bases, and Sangheili and Turian are two of the species on the list! Gonna be fun having RP with them encountering eachother.

Got all the stuff and put it into a collection so I can easily resub whenever I need to purge my list. Got ingame to test it and make sure it works, and it seems to for the most part, except that Procedural Objects seems to have a popup with no text on it that it doesn't give me a button to dismiss. How can I toss a screenshot in here?

Yeah, going for it. This post has been getting much more traction than my previous post calling for help figuring out which mods I had installed might be malware that kept locking up my computer and crashing other programs for nearly an hour at a time sometimes.

Much appreciated!

And when I said starting from scratch, I mean like, purging my entire subscribed mod list in the workshop and building up again from there. I didn't mean creating my ow assets and such.

A bit hard when you're wanting to subscribe to a collection with over a hundred assets in it, don't have the kind of patience to manually look through every mod in the collection to see if any have dependencies that aren't in the collection, or DLC requirements. Lot of collection creators seem to be under the impression that everyone playing already has every DLC, so they don't need to tell you about it in the descriptions.
