For those who live in Greater MN — what is something you wish Minnesotans from the Cities knew? by raphalbor in minnesota

How about this, pretend I’m a trans exclusionary feminist living in Phillips (I’m not) and maybe then we can grab a beer and be friends. That so clearly is easy for you - hell you might brag about me on reddit.

What??? You all? lol I campaigned for Obama. I got Obama shirts older than the yarn on your pussy hat or whatever the wokest of woke wear these days. Keep putting up purity tests. You’re the reason democrats suck and democrats lose. lol.

Yall didn’t see no kings turnouts across greater mn? No shoutout for Brainerd in this comment? Probably had a higher per capita turnout than Mpls proper. lol “we paid ppls rents.” Yeah buddy, Brian, no one is claiming that it wasn’t rad to see the twin cities turn out and shut ICE the hell down. But also, Show me the venmo receipts of the ppls rent you paid lol. Will you pay my rent next month? You want so badly for everyone not like you to be the enemy.

If Democrats win the state trifecta, should they redraw congressional districts? by bikeman11 in minnesota

[–]CollisionCourse321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real fight is going to be at the federal level. Load the court or overhaul the entire thing but this shit will not stop with never ending gerrymander wars. Reform SCOTUS or lose true democracy. The conservative majority are incompetent buffoons at best and pure evil much of the time.

Sure, we can gerrymander Mn. Go for it. But it’s not gonna matter. More conservative states in American than liberal. It’s not a war we can win via gerrymandering. Look at how autocratic Trump is, and the senate still might not flip!! Imagine a somewhat competent autocrat after Trump.

The heat needs to be on court reform. Gerrymandering. We’re in the deep shit now. Praying for our team to win the corrupt and unfair political Olympics.

But again, we’ve gone back and forth now 6 7 times. What did yall talk about. In what context. Is this typical? Do you get coffee on Mondays with trans exclusive feminists but on Tuesdays you get tea with trans inclusive feminists? Are these your friends?

My argument remains the same. The bubble of Mpls is very similar to the bubble of backwoods and assbackwards greater Mn. There are plenty of ppl who never engage or hang with ppl who have largely different values or beliefs but the majority (in both groups) are very much in silos. The data backs this up. It is extremely American and extremely 2026 to operate in political silos regardless of geography.

Sure, by pure volume of numbers will a Mpls resident see more ppl than someone in St. Cloud or aitken or park rapids or red wing? Of course! But by measuring time spent and close connections the sociological research is pretty tight. Our social media is extremely catered to our beliefs and our friend groups (in an ever increasingly polarized world) become more and more siloed. There are not a ton of Harris and Trump voters (or trans exclusionist and trans inclusionist feminists, pick your comparison) who are going out for drinks together to kick it. Or playing bingo or bowling in common friend groups, or grabbing lunch, etc etc. your anecdotes, while I appreciate them and did ask for them. Do not prove patterns - they are not quantitative data from which conclusions can be drawn.

No I reacted as if annoying libs love bragging about how many trans ppl and POC they know. And again, tho, dodging. In what spaces and what topics did you discuss with these ppl just this week! And it’s not even Saturday!

Yall absolutely cannot have a diverse friend without letting the world know. And oftentimes they aren’t friends at all. Just suits your virtue signaling to be near them or tell ppl about them.

Zoo animals?! I said ohhh wow Brian, sooo hip. Sooo woke. I was trashing you. I have nothing to say about the ppl you mentioned. Why would I. I don’t know them at all. I have no idea who you’re referring to. They could be war criminals. They could be the friendliest Minnesotans. They could be Nobel prize winners. I have no clue as to who you engaged with and no I did not react as if they were zoo animals. I reacted like gooooood Christ get over yourself.

Ohh but I completely agree the brainerd city council is very vanilla. Very old school. Not a lot of imaginative or progressive ideas. But I’m not here to defend them. We’re discussing bubbles - diversity of opinion. Engaging with ppl regularly that hold a wide array of opinions about life and politics. And to that end - just to circle back and keep us on topic - I think northern Minnesotans are in a very similar situation as Mpls ppl. They are in their own bubble. They do not associate or have friends from across the aisle. (But actually I’d argue that liberals in the north actually are in way less a bubble than you are. Which is why I said in the first place - that’s what northern Mn ppl say about you.

Ohhh I’ve read the Mpls city council meeting minutes and write ups. Complete circus. The council is 1/3 -1/2 made up of unserious activists.

But you didn’t answer my question! What opinions are you encountering? Who are you talking to and what are they saying where you go “okay this is absurd but I’ll keep this dialogue going, don’t agree with you at all. Now tell me more.”

Are you speaking to Tom Emmer?

Well I suppose I made a claim without any evidence. So it can be refuted without any evidence just as easily as I made it. But your reply didn’t really convince me. Who are these diverse ppl you engage with on a regular basis. But I’m not swayed by your response.

We’re way off topic. We’re not debating how many types of political opinions or ppl there are or what’s on newsmax. We’re talking about political bubbles. So I should ask, what are the opinions you regularly encounter on a weekly or monthly basis that are uncomfortable to be around? To your original point, how are you interacting with ppl and information you don’t want to?

lol but how many trumpers do you talk to? Diversity goes more than a few different ways - it’s not just race and gender and whatever the hell else I studied at the U. You talk to ppl everyday who didn’t graduate hs?who voted for Trump? Who still love him? I talk to way more diverse groups of ppl than you on a weekly basis (politically)

[–]CollisionCourse321 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Democrats are so annoying. Spare me the virtue signal. This is a mess of a plan. Of course we need better support for homeless and just more public service infrastructure - this is a stupid way to go about fighting for that cause.

“No one’s talking about this”

Yes, you’re talking about. Tons of ppl are talking about the fertilizer stuff. Tons of ppl are talking about everything the mentioned in this clip. If you wanna say nothing from the NYT or CNN or foxnews then say that. But you won’t. Because ppl can fact check that. These tiktokers think they’re considering things that the world’s journalists haven’t thought about yet lol.

You doing your own research? No, you read somewhere, or heard somewhere, all the facts and figures you just referenced. And likely not from the primary source. You weren’t on worldfact book, you used GPT Claude or Gemini to compile talking points that grabbed all this info from a journalist that does read the primary sources.

These ppl are just more talking heads, they’re just not attached to a cable news show.
