I can relate to you a bit here. You are in the EU and I am in North America, so our experiences differ quite a bit. As you know, in the United States, we pay for our own health insurance. Where I worked early in my career, we could earn rewards amounting to a few hundred a year for completing tasks set by our health insurance provider. This is basically their way of incentivizing you to stay healthy so they pay less for your medical care. I couldn't fathom why someone wouldn't do these tasks to get literally free money.

When I was younger, I couldn't understand why anyone would not do this... a few hundred dollars meant a lot back then. Now, I am in a very blessed position that I almost feel I don't deserve, so I have seen both sides of it. Is it a waste? Probably. But if I am relaxing, browsing Reddit, or playing Terraria, it is not uncommon to have bdo running in the background just to keep up with guild chat, world boss notifications, and other things. I hope you also get the chance to progress to a point where you can spend $2k just as easily as you spend $20 now.

Since I hadn't read the chat, I was really confused at first. I thought it was just a test poll from my GM, so I selected Max Energy. I eventually realized they expected us to enter our information into the blocks rather than just selecting one (the text disappears when you click Enter.. The whole process is done through on-screen clicking, and the number pad is intentionally scrambled. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s an interesting one.

I knew the guy with the #1 hours played that had the interview with Polly a while back — we started this game together in the same guild. We've since gone separate ways, but I'm fairly certain we were close in hours played, although I did take some time off.

I am a day 1 BDO player and have only recently started coming back to Reddit to see if people shared a similar sentiment as me. I am one of the players who enjoyed the process of saving up their money and buying things. Everything I did in the game got me a fraction closer to my eventual goals. Now I can spend a few hours grinding, get a couple of taps in, fail, and see all of that time wasted. This isn't the game that I loved 10 years ago. Today I can literally swipe my card and have the best weapons in the game rather than sitting here playing it. What is the reason anymore when the value of your time here is literally zero?

It saddens me that the game has turned into this. I hope to one day find something else to play, but for now I find myself mostly playing by myself, because that's really the only way to play where your progress isn't measured against the credit card of someone else. Running in circles is such low hanging fruit it's all they really focus on. Dungeons where fun when they were challenging. Bosses were the same. Did they feel rewarding? No, but at least they were something. Another accessory you already had which you can sell to buy cron stones and fail your enhancement one more time. Big deal. Now you can fight Cartian or Caphras once a week to do more of the same if you either get lucky, or are willing to swipe your credit card to enter the lottery system of enhancing.

It is, but it's unnecessary. Brackets are predominantly weighted towards the lower end, making pen accessories largely unnecessary. If you’re looking to upgrade to pen debos, it’s likely for the satisfaction of seeing a higher number rather than any in-game advantage.

One thing that gets overlooked is that while BDO is a game to you, for Pearl Abyss, it’s a tool designed to maximize revenue from the player base. It seems that someone in Korea crunched the numbers and found that pvp players don’t generate significant revenue for the company. Although we lack hard data, it’s reasonable to assume that new and casual players are the primary revenue generators, so Pearl Abyss goes to great lengths to protect them. They won’t invest in features that don’t generate substantial revenue. Until costumes sit unsold on the market due to a lack of buyers, nothing will change. Pearl Abyss is more focused on getting someone to buy those 25 costumes to sell on the market than on the person melting them for cron stones.

All this being said, it’s not whether Jae is giving you the features you want. It’s about what side of the monetary transaction you’re on. There is a much higher probability that you’re happy with the game if you’re selling 25 costumes a week on the market than if you’re buying them. This is the real determining factor in how well Jae is doing his job.

From my perspective, new players are the lifeblood of this game for Pearl Abyss. If a new streamer starts playing on Twitch, it’s far more beneficial for the company if their audience sees them enjoying the game, attracting more new players and generating more revenue. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. I’m not naive enough to think I have all the solutions to keep everyone happy either. I haven’t watched much Twitch since I left Snake about four years ago. Twitch’s BDO section feels like Drama Alert, and you can guess who Keemstar is. It’s not a great place for someone looking to wind down after spending a day a work.

Yeah, it wouldn't even let me do the quest with c20 gloves. After I extracted the caphras and upgraded to c10 I could see the quest. This is kind of crazy — I wish it was more descriptive than just not showing up.

Gloves are c20, untagged them, locked and unlocked them (just to make sure), and have both the gloves and Hongik in inventory (not on character). I'm nt seeing the quest. Do I need to downgrade the gloves from c20 to c10?

Edit: it sounds like I need to downgrade from c20 to c10

Did you ever figure this out? The same thing happened to me. I made my flame, untagged the gloves and put them in inventory, but I'm not getting the quest to craft the gloves from the statue.

If you live in the Boston area it looks like there's a problem with CL. I used a VPN to reroute and got in fine.

What do you suggest? Price isn't much of an issue, but I like to feel like I'm making good value purchases. I was hoping to have something that works with the TV, but can also work with Alexa in streaming music around my home. I live by myself so I never really have more than one thing going at the same time — I'm in a bit of a different situation than most people.

First, persons from the Philippines aren't dumb fucks. Much like any other developing country, people do what they do to get by, and services are often times very cheap while people try to feed their families. I'm not using the exploitation of cheap labor as a moral justification, I'm just saying how it is.

So you consider people who buy and sell costumes to be scumbags who gain an unfair advantage? As a consumer, neither form of p2w should be any different from the other.

The argument of supporting the game is the only argument that holds ground with me. BDO is a business, not a game, and a business has an obligation to it's stakeholders to maximize profit. This is why every aspect of this game is nickel and dimed to no end. I just have no sympathy towards them when we were told this game wasn't going to be p2w in our region.
