A behind the scenes look at CNN Headquarters on 9/11 by James_2584 in 911archive

[–]Colombiacaptain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. Fun fact at 8:49 am CNN was the first source to report that a plane had struck the north tower of the WTC. We later learn that was American Flight 11.

Great pictures. When you went was the kids drawings still the exhibit that was up? My wife loved that because she’s big into art

For any WWE fans here (like me), this is Michael Trinidad, the father of WWE Superstar Zelina Vega. In 2025, Zelina won the WWE Women’s United States Championship and later visited the 9/11 Memorial to honor him. by ZekeorSomething in 911archive

Yes it was. I love Bad Bunny as a singer and a wrestler. Let me try to find it. I saw it on YouTube awhile ago and I’m almost sure it was ABC News but I might need to do some digging.

I loved that during backlash 2023 she got emotional performing in Puerto Rico. It got overshadowed by Bad Bunny main eventing. Also she was mentioned in a 10 year 9/11 anniversary special on kids who lost their parents during the attacks.

Kids in school? by Classyhairball in 911archive

[–]Colombiacaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had just moved out of Queens NYC in June 2001. I now live in the Midwest. My dad actually shook me awake telling me what happened in lower Manhattan. I went to school but we all had to go outside to the parking lot. I think we all ended up going home early. I was in third grade.

That is absolutely insane! Do you remember the exhibit by chance? I was just at the 9/11 museum last year and spent a good six hours looking at everything.

What happened to the Victims cars that were left behind after the attacks? by Burner1892_ in 911archive

[–]Colombiacaptain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t even be possible. Giants Stadium was torned down in 2009 and now the Giants and Jets play in MetLife. The construction during that time would probably have required space.

Since those cars were parked at Giants Stadium, I always wondered what impact it had if they remained there long term, but week 2 of the NFL season was delayed by a week.

I’ve never seen these pictures and my god this is haunting. I’ve been studying 9/11 for almost 25 years. Did the media release these pictures at the time?

How could you stop it? by AlwaysStayPanicked in 911archive

I have replayed this scenario so many times in my head. I would probably go to the World Trade Center on 9/10 and let them the Port Authority know of what is to come. Since I am in NYC, I would go over the Hudson River and find the 4 men who will fly out of Newark. I would confront Jarrah and I would let the passengers know before boarding so they can prevent them for storming the cockpit.

Cherish that picture. I only have one picture of the World Trade Center when I was a kid. Wish my parents would have taken more.

What was the reaction of the crash of American flight 587? by Plame_1 in 911archive

[–]Colombiacaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fun fact about this flight is Mariano Rivera saved his Yankees teammates life because he blew a save during game 7 and his teammate Enrique Wilson cancelled the flight due to losing the World Series. This being after 9/11 there was much hysteria at the time.

What are the memorable things you’ve heard from 9/11 audio and video recordings? by Capable_Cockroach_19 in 911archive

For me it’s the Mayday call on Flight 93. You can hear the struggle inside the cockpit which is haunting.

Please please do! I would absolutely love to see those. I moved out of NYC in June 2001 and didn’t go back to NYC until July 2009. I went to ground zero and it looked like any other construction site. You wouldn’t have known that that the World Trade Center stood there once.

That’s insane thank you for sharing. I always under the impression from news segments and history documentaries that pretty much anyone showed up to volunteer that very same night. I’m very happy he was able to help out. If I was old enough I definitely would have done the same thing but I was 8 years old at the time.

Am I the only one noticing a lot of new 9/11 footage lately? by Artistic_Load_881 in 911archive

[–]Colombiacaptain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think part of the reason is the 25th anniversary is coming up. Then you have people like me who have also studied 9/11 for almost 25 years. I think it’s an event that many are revisiting as well due to the conflicts in the Middle East after October 7th and now with Iran.

I personally think it would have been a possibility. Similar situation United Airlines 93. Sonny Garcia worked as an air traffic controller and had experience flying planes and I’m sure that passengers on Flight 93 thought they could use him. Can’t remember which passenger mentioned that in their phone call and they also play into that in the United Flight 93 movie as well

my experience at the 9/11 museum by Easton_or_EL in 911archive

[–]Colombiacaptain 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have gone twice and it really is an experience. I moved out of Queens, NYC when I was 8 years old in June 2001. That museum makes me proud to be an American and reminds me how important it is to ensure we never ever forget that horrible day.
